It happens to EVERYONE even if you are royalty....

My mother and I own a house together, and I had my children ask her if "they" could have some pet chickens. "Pleeeese grandma???" Totally worked! Now she loves them too! The Obama girls should try that out on daddy, it might work!

You have to admire someone who gets scoffed at beacuse of his beliefs, continuing his efforts to raise awarness of organic methods and backyard farming. BTW I wear my robe over my clothes sometimes, granted i'm generally sick when I do. I wear what ever to the coop since I can feed them without going in the coop. and my 43 are very clean. I have only smelled them once in the time that I have had them. I can certanly verify the fact that they are clean because I just spent 20 min sitting in it on a bucket becasue of a thunderstorm. thunder+freaked bird=not good time

Granted we may not all "like" Prince Charles but I can say that I truly admire the UK's ability to make laws against animal cruelty possible. We have been members of http://www.ciwf.org.uk for quite a while and are trying to get them to do something like that here. We do raise our own birds for meat and eggs as well as have pet and show birds. Compassion in World Farming has been great in informing the people of the UK. There is also Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall who is a chef in the UK who promotes not only CIWF but promotes raising poultry humanely. Prince Charles may be a figure head just like most presidents but they do have a say and they do influence. The UK is far ahead of the US as far as making sure our livestock is treated humanely and to them, kuddos! We, too, would like to see our government reach out to the farming community and embrace what all of us here at BYC are so dillegently trying to accomplish!

Ditto and Amen! I know that Prince Charles is supposedly a figurehead, but he sure does a lot to promote social justice in the UK, and is a good example to the world of what a positive impact a person can make with their notoriety. At least he stays what he is for life and not just for 4-8 years. Off topic, have any of you ever watched a session of Parliament on CSPAN? It's very interesting. Their representatives truly know how to argue and have to in order to defend their positions every day. Here, if one representative says something even slightly insulting it's news for weeks. Over there it seems to happen all the time and those people have to think fast on their feet. Wit and sarcasm seem to be prerequisites for public office. Really entertaining, our congress and senate should be taking notes!

I just have to say this type of thread is why I keep coming back to BYC! Thank You to the OP and all the contributing writers

I have not fed them in PJ's, but I have made the mistake a few times of forgetting to put them back in the coop BEFORE putting on my PJ's, then having to heard them in there while hoping none of the neighbors are watching. The worst incident was when the Barred Rock was on the other side of the fence, requiring me to run down the alley, into the neighbors yard, throw her over the fence, then back down the alley. All in the smallest, strappy little PJ's (you don't wear much to bed in South Florida).

While I can respect you have your opinion I would respectfully ask you to stop insulting the royal family of my country. How would you feel if I said the president of yours made me want to puke?
