The rumpless trait in araucanas is not lethal. In the araucana breed, the lethal trait is the ear tufting. Rumplessness just makes it harder for the birds to breed successfully -- thus lower fertility in the eggs. OTOH, I don't know anything about the short legged trait in the Japs!

Oh, and P.S. -- I'd love to have some of the silver barnevelders. Let us know if you get any imported!

Unless they have recently changed the regulations, the UK was not exporting any fowl or eggs to the US.

As far as I know, there ARE several bird importers DID import eggs and chickens in the US, as long all the tests and quanrantine has been filfulled. It is not cheap! It cost ALOT of money. So it may be that they are having partial lift ban on importing birds or eggs from the UK.

A friend of mine imported hatching eggs and exporting hatching eggs without a problem. Needs to have all the paperwork on both ends completed, the flock in UK and US tested, etc. so it works both ways.

Yea, any chick that receives a double copy of the tufting gene is a goner before they hatch.

i have been looking into importing Chickens from the UK, when i looked up what i needed to do and printed it out, and it was 12 8 1/2 by 11 pages full

it will be worth it if i import them though (I think anyways).

And yes it does/will cost a lot of $$$ i would say if you would like to import them go for it! as far as i can see ya don't have anything to lose

30K?.They are nice looking bird's though but.....If I had that much to spend on bird's could do the breeding myself and have chickie Condo's.I Think those rumpless Jap's are Adorable!.I raised jap's they were awesome.Hope it work's out for ya!
