I know this because my chickens are halfway across the farm right now, chasing the bugs that are getting harder and harder to find. No more lazy summer days spent in the garden shade for these guys.
Plus, this morning they had a west side story type showdown with the crows over who owns the pecans that fall off the tree. (The chickens won)

Quote:Hahaha... That is such a clever way of saying it! This is what flashed through my mind:

Roosters, with that one wing dropped in the aggressive stance, pacing toward the crows (like the Jets, snapping in time to their song), hens following and singing:

    When you're a Hen,
You're a Hen all the way
    From your first lettuce treat
    To your last dyin' lay.

    When you're a Hen,
If the spit hits the fan,
    You got roosters around,
    Phear the Hen Warrior Man!

    You're never alone,
    You're never disconnected!
    You're home with your own:
    When company's expected,
    You're well protected!

    Then you are set
    With a capital H,
    Which you'll never forget
    Till they cart you away.
    When you're a Hen,
    You stay a Hen!

    When you're a Hen,
You're the top gal in town,
    You're the reigning Egg Queen
    With the featherweight crown!

    When you're a Hen,
    You're the swingin'est thing:
    Little chick, you're a Hen;
    Little hen, you're a queen!

    The Hens are in gear,
    Our beaks are all clickin'!
    The Crows'll steer clear
'Cause ev'ry Corvid's a lousy chicken! (LITTLE JOHNCHICK: "Hey, how did that get in there?")[IMG]

    Here come the Hens
Like a bat out of hell.
A Crow gets in our way,
A Crow don't feel so well!

    Here come the Hens:
    Little world, step aside!
    Better go underground,
    Better run, better hide!

    We're drawin' the line,
    So keep your beaks hidden!
    We're hangin' a sign,
    Says "Visitors forbidden"
    And we ain't kiddin'!

    Here come the Hens,
    Yeah! And we're gonna beat
    Ev'ry last Corvid gang
    On the whole treat-filled street!
    On the whole!
    Ever!
    Pecan!
    Lovin'!
    Street!
    Yeah!

Sorry about the long post. I can't keep chickens where I live, so I have to do SOMETHING! I've been whining all day about it. I'll quiet down soon.

They start singing (other than the egg song) and snapping their fingers and I'mma gonna trade them for a bunch of turkeys.
    Too cute Ingrid! [IMG]

I'd have to call them The Desperadoes, though (outlaw chickens).
I'd have to name 'em after female outlaws like Belle Star, Pearl Hart, Laura Bullion.
I could photoshop little bandoliers on the pictures of the hens and little bandannas and silver spurs on the roos. [IMG]

One of the things I'm most looking forward to with new chicks in the spring is the reaction of my current chickens when they find out that they don't own the world. [IMG]
