Items stolen/Trespassing - Progress on our fence *pics post 91*

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's very scary to think you are not safe in your own home. The person who stole those things are probably just hard up for drug money and most likely wouldn't hurt you so try not to be too scared. About a month ago we had a perverted peeper roaming around or part of the woods and he even got into one little girls room through the window. Thankfully he didn't touch her just defiled stuff----disgusting:( I was paranoid to be alone with my daughter anywhere in the house. Maybe they'll catch him selling the stolen items and you'll be able to rest easy soon. Big hugs:)

Eastin's... that's what I was thinking. We may move them back there.

Jeff, we have moved everything of value out of the shed at this point, so there is nothing in there even if they do come back.

We've considered putting the other 4 wheeler back in there with some cameras rigged up so we can try to catch them if they come back for it. I was looking at an infared wildlife camera because then it wouldn't have a bright flash. I figured if they saw the flash, they would most likely find the camera and steal it/destroy it.

The weird thing is - I've never noticed a truck like my neighbor described. At first I wondered if it was one of the trucks for the oil well company, but when I talked to them they said it wasn't theirs and they weren't even here on Friday (oh and it turns out they had a 4 wheeler, chainsaw, and generator stolen from just up the road from here 6 months ago). None of the neighbors had seen a truck like the one that was seen here, either. I'm watching for it, though! If I see it, I'll be getting the plate number and calling the sheriff's office right away. I'm wondering if maybe they were smart and knew we'd recognize their trucks, so they borrowed someone else's?

Thanks Selina! I'm sorry that you had a guy like that running around! That would be scary! They caught him, I hope!

I know I'm probably being overly paranoid... It wouldn't bother me so much if I wasn't here alone. It's almost 1 am... I guess I better try to get a little sleep before work tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for the advice and hugs! Just being able to talk about my fears with y'all has helped me quite a bit tonight.

The cops didn't even come out and take a report did they? After my father in law died, his house sat vacant for about a year. We went over to pick up the mail, irrigate the lawn and mow it. We had lights on a timer.

Still, the house was broken into several times. The cops would not even come out and look at the damage or take a report.

But the last time it happened, they spray painted swastikas all over the place. My son called the cops and it was just a ho hum again thing until he mentioned the swastikas. Then suddenly, we had four cop cars, an evidence van, two k9 units and God only knows how many cops on the scene with cameras to photograph some swastikas.

It makes you wonder!

I am sorry Beth, I really cant imagine! We just got our home and it would be a real setback to have that happen. We have penned our heelers up on our porch to protect our coop materials and now, hearing your story, I am glad we did. I hope that you are able to replace the items and that this is the last of these issues. My husband used to work nights and I would worry but then I decided with my son in the house and being the protective mother I am, I was probably the most dangerouse thing lurking about.

God Bless!

I just now ran across this post. I am so sorry this happened to you guys Beth. We had a break in 5 years ago, except it wasn't any out building, it was our house. You are right about them watching you. I know these people watched us as well and knew my husbands schedule as well as my own. I was out of my house for 2 hours. and they cleaned us out (well, almost). I have never felt to violated in all my life. My home no longer felt like a safe place of refuge where I could lock out the people of the world.

You should go ahead with the cattle fence and don't bother with the welded wire fencing. These people already got what they came for. Put up your security cameras and label your buildings and house as such. Post that you are watching and they will be prosecuted. File with your homeowners and go get another 4-wheeler.

Sorry again that this happened.

Those hunting motion cameras work well. We use them and they give unbelievable clear shots. Works well to know whats out there person wise or critter wise.

I have been broke into a couple times in the past 20 years and both times the thief was no stranger, it was someone we knew.
