I have a couple Roos that crow at 3 in the morning! I hear them through my son's baby monitor. Surely the sun's not up at 3 a.m!!

My Silkie Roo crows at any time of day or night. Always at sunup, but throughout the day, evening, even in the middle of the night. Sometimes it's because someone shows up at my house (guess he thinks he's a guard dog), sometimes it's because I go outside for any reason. If I talk on the cordless phone outside he goes nuts and crows constantly. But often times, there appears to be no rhyme or reason, just random crowing. Freaks out company, but I'm pretty used to it.

I read about a rooster who crowed every hour, on the hour, 24/7. It was driving the owners crazy until they discovered that the next door neighbor had just gotten a clock that chimed on the hour. The silly rooster was challenging the clock every time it chimed!

My wife is from the Dominican Republic. The first time I went with her to visit her family and enjoy a vacation, was no vacation. Everyone in the DR owns chickens (roosters) and dogs (big). The first night we were there at about the time we went to bed I heard a dog bark. Another dog answered him. In a span of about 45 seconds every dog in town was barking. At 1 o'clock they quieted down. I was about to get some sleep.

At 1:15 I heard a rooster crow. In a span of about 45 seconds every rooster in town was crowing. They quieted down at approximately six in the morning. When I asked my brother-in-law what he did about the dogs and roosters he asked "What dogs and roosters?".
