It's hatching day!!

Alright, as time went by and the membrane became more moisented throughout the shell and I could see there were still a lot of veins in all of them so instead of doing any peeling I've been up all night misting them every single hour. They have slowly become more and more active, which to me is great sign...but what is fantastic is I JUST saw two of them breaking free (completely on their own) of the membrane. It made this long night completely worth it so thank you so much for the help duckyfromoz...I had no clue what to do.

Congratulations, glad to hear it all turned out well

So happy for you. Each egg- even when incubated in the same conditions can be different- so its not always totally clear what to do. I once had a hatch that had two ducklings with very dry membranes and other duckling that drown because of too much fluid in the egg. You have done well- Im sure it was a very long night. I bet your children will be very excited when they wake and see how they have progressed while they were asleep. Good luck with them today... Oh...and since they were mixed eggs- can you work out what any of them may be yet??

One of them I'm fairly certain is a black sweedish, it's all dark (given the breeds that could've laid it I figure this is the most logical, though its still wet so we'll see) and one is all yellow but it's in the blue egg, which I've been told is a good indicator that it could be a runner...I don't know if that's true or not but we'll see when he gets out

Two of them are almost out...haven't had to do anything but keep the membrane moist...I did end up swabbing them with olive oil because I had to leave the house and couldnt mist constantly, but they all seem to be doing well and taking their time

Great to hear- they have had a bit of a rough start- so might take a while. but making them finsih the job themselves will make them stronger. At least with different colours you will all be able to tell the different ducklings apart....

Okay! We officially have 3 little ducklings...they took their time about it and are awfully worn out but they are here. There is still something attached to their bellys though, is that normal?
