It's not a big thing but I'm crying.

Thanks so much you two. I'm still very homesick and missing my dad alot. I decided to stop dragging around feeling sorry for myself and be happy in the now, here in my beautiful home with my wonderful husband. It stays in my the back of mind, brainstorming, on how to get Dad out here for a visit. I know DH thinks about it too, because he likes to see me smile. It'll happen as soon as possible. In the meantime, I'm keeping in touch with letters and phone calls.

Hmmm... welll, we don't want to risk a butt whippin'. Not from dad and hubby. They have guns and know how to use them.

(Did I tell you I shot a possum the other night? I thought of you as I blasted the little snot to smithereens. It was a power moment.)

We're going to check into that on DH's next round of days off. He's working a crazy schedule right now. I've given up driving completely until we get my neurological issues under control. Seems like we take one step forward and two steps back as far as my medical condition is concerned. DH has plenty of vacation time stored up, so the rental car with him driving may be possible.

Awwww you didn't bring it in and make a pet of it?

Ummm, NO!!!! It was hissing at me and trying to eat my chickens! I wonked it on the head repeatedly trying to make it go away and it just kept eyeing my chickens. I finally went back in the house, put the dogs up, grabbed the shotgun, grabbed the shells and walked back out to the coop. Stupid possum was still there trying to decide who to eat first. I wonked it on the head some more with the shovel and then finally gave up and shot it. I figured I had given it every opportunity to run away and tell its little friends about the crazy lady with the chickens. If it was too stupid to live then it needed shootin'. Stupid possums.
On the plus side the chickens put up a loud protest when it climbed in their coop. I heard them and went dashing out to see what was up. The rooster was nose to nose with the possum giving it The Eye. Good boy! The downside is that apparently gunshots at midnight don't spook my neighbors. Nobody came to check on me. Oh well.

Good roo!

Apparently the armadillos outnumber the opossums around here. DH hates them, but I kinda like them. We don't talk about what happened when I had my first encounter with a 'coon out here.

Edited for one too many Ps in opossums...I think.
