It's not "swine flu" anymore. It's the H1N1 flu virus.

The sky is falling, The sky is falling!! Folks calm down. The world is not coming to an end. Y'all are acting squirrelier than southerners at the mention of snow!

Just look at the numbers, it's no deadlier than regular flu. And like another poster mentioned, it is able to be cured with medications if folks get treated properly and in a reasonable time frame.

Stop watching all the 24/7 over-exaggerating, panic-inducing garbage that passes for news these days and be reasonable and rational.

I'm just not caring about it. I'm leaving it alone. If you need me, I'll be living my life.

A few People acted like the sky was falling at the weekly auction early this week because there were hogs there. I'm not worried. I'm just glad they don't call it swine flu anymore since my landlord is a pork producer and my state is a pork state it could have put a ton more people out of work if nobody would eat pork anymore.

Poeple need to give it a rest, the flu has been around for many years and it always kills someone. There is no need for all this panick.

The only thing that really makes me nervous is this:

Normal flu might kill 0.01% of the people who get it without adaquite medical care....not bad seeing how many people get the flu every year.

H1N1 has a 6% chance of killing you without adaquite medical care (aka the type you get in mexico if your poor and other "less developed" countries)....

How many extra patients would it take for your ER get overloaded? How many ventalators does your hospital have? How many doctors, nurses, orderlies....

How many of those doctors, nurses, orderlies will stay home, get sick, etc. if things start to break down...

I have had the pleasure of spending ALOT of time over the last year dealing with the Canadian Medical system....and lemme tell you it doesnt take very much to bog things down....

Personally I am very happy I have prepped a bit(compared to some) and have LTS food, water, genny, meds (including sambucol), and other assorted essentials for the wifey and me.

Of course on the other hand my tinfoil hat might be on a bit too tight....

I lived through (contracted) many forms of flu from 1959-present. It's not fun.
We know so much more now about how it mutates, travels etc. I had the Hong Kong flu, and in that epidemic they didn't close schools, and didn't close borders. I don't see how you can realistically contain the flu. You just have to be aware of keeping clean, and avoid crowds. You can't stop living.
Eat well, drink lots of water.

Having a hard time understanding the panic over this. My understanding is that this flu virus was ALREADY in the US; just being found more because they're testing for it now.

It's not the plague. It's flu. I thought the biggest risk factor with flu was dehydration. Am I missing something?
