It's not "swine flu" anymore. It's the H1N1 flu virus.

I heard yesterday morning that it was renamed because it was hitting some of the muslim countries and they were offended because of their religious beliefs regarding the pig. Meh...somebody's always going to be offended.

All this hype came about last year with the bird flu as well and as for myself, I'm not going to get freaky about it. I'll just wash my hands as I've always done and maybe once more after I've visited Walmart and pushed around a buggy.

Hey, if you want to die of something, go to a hospital. They are far more deadly than any flu - swine or other. My dad was killed by bacterial pneumonia he contracted in his PRIVATE room in ICU!!

I met a gal just the other day who contracted the same from her newly built hospital/OR. Fortunately, she was younger and in better health than my father so she has only been out of work and sick for 7 weeks. (if you consider that fortunate.) Oh, she went in for an overnight hysterectomy.

So, if you want to panic, panic over something that might actually happen to you instead of something that is less likely to happen than oh say getting struck by lightening or hit by a bus.

I love bacon with my fresh eggs SO Im happy about the name change

Yard sale. Hey, didn't you buy the plastic for your windows and duct tape? I got ROLLS of it! Oh wait, that a totally different "impending doom and end of the world scenario based on experts predictions". I've gotten my tradgedies mixed up.

That was a huge panic time around here where I am. I didn't buy any because I couldn't understand how everyone thought plastic and duct tape would keep out something that was floating in the air. If you keep out outside air and keep inside air in, you'll suffocate from the CO2. Plus, I doubt any walls in any houses are air tight.

They found 2 cases here in the northern part of my state and close in the states around me.

What is it about the "normal" flu that kills people each year? Is it dehydration? Pneumonia?

**ETA that everyone in my family participated in buying out all the duct tape and plastic for miles around and chastised me for not. **

It's in my county now. 3 cases were just reported in schools here in Marion County. It's just a matter of time before my school gets it lol. I just hope I don't get it.

This logic is brought to you by the same folks who had kids hide under their school desks to "protect" them atomic blasts! I know duct tape can "fix" alot of things, but come on people!

LOL That just reminded me that my grandmother used to make us grandkids hide as far under a couch as we could go and then she would put blankets and pillows in front of us. She would run to her bed & hide under the cover. All this for a THUNDERSTORM

.

Just read this: "The swine flu outbreak that has alarmed the world for a week now appears less ominous, with the virus showing little staying power in the hardest-hit cities and scientists suggesting it lacks the genetic fortitude of past killer bugs. President Barack Obama even voiced hope Friday that it may turn out to be no more harmful than the average seasonal flu."

Just hope it doesn't come back with a vengeance in the fall.

Am not worrying too much as this juncture...... I think our governments has just wasted millions having leaflets printed to go to every home in the Uk, telling you about the flu.... and washing you hands etc... money could have been better spent on Tamilflu drug, not leaflets.... Jeesh Gordon Brown!!!!......

Lets wait and see what happens.....
