My Grandaughters immune system is compromised by Diabetes.
I am terrified she will contract this virus. we have 3 confirmed cases in concord which is only a few miles from my home as the crow flies.
Back a few months ago the Noro Virus attacked her, came from a sick child at my other grandaughters school.
The Noro virus made her so sick that she had to be Life Flight'ed out of the ER I took her too.
2 days after the crisis we found out what caused such a deadly reaction in her. the school my other grandaughter goes to finally sent home notice that the virus was present. that was 5 days total before we knew.
so closing the barn door after the animals get out is rather silly.
If the H1N1 virus was already here the onlything we can do is ride it out and pray for no one to pass from it.

While everyone is running around like chicken little about the swine flu, noone is paying attention to the potential pandamonium that a bovine dysentary outbreak would cause...

I hope that the Doctors don't start diagnosing every death that's flu related as being the swine or H1N1 flu.

I heard on the news yesterday that this swine flu or h1n1 is a mix of swine flu, bird flu and human flu....sounds scary

Hubby runs the lab at the hospital and today they got the samples of H1N1 to test against, he had to wear the whole getup! They are now training everyone in the lab "PCR Amplification" which is the actual method of testing for it. I'm nervous, but not to my freak out point yet... My honey brought us home the N-95 respirator mask which are the mask that filter the viruses out so you don't inhale vapors... Good luck to everyone I hope this is just a fluke and we all make it out of this mess safely!!!

Well looks like the outbreak here in Canada has doubled overnight...that is something to think about. Went from 19 yesterday to 39 this am...
and we have 7 suspected cases in our district as of this morning. I kept my son home from school today...he can have a long weekend and we can see where this thing heads by Monday...better to be safe than sorry
Just read an email about the truckers getting off the roads and going home. They are not feeling safe anymore and just want to be home. Possible food shortages will be the result of this...

The mortality rate of "regular" flu is around 1.5%.

The mortality rate of H1N1 is around 2%. It is still responsive to Tamilflu.

All this means is that if you get sick, don't tough it out, go see a doc and get some meds. No call for panic.












BTW H1N1 looks to me like it should be pronounced "hiney".......
