No big deal.....just like to try to share whenever I can in small ways. A little here and there is easy to do. I have the eggs and they seem pretty easy to hatch compared to other eggs I've tried, so maybe they could help build some confidence!

I don't know of an incubator designed to tilt. It's hard for me to understand why people don't use bators like they were designed for. They were not designed to tilt or to use egg cartons in. It's pretty simple a still air should run about 102 i run mine on 103 due to inaccurate thermometer i am sure. It's just hard to understand why people use off the wall methods and still wonder why their eggs don't hatch. You need to get back to correct basic procedure.

I used to feel the same way.And it hurts when you buy eggs and they end up dead,or not make it all the way.It took me a long time to figure out what was wrong.hinckj on here BYC,helped me a whole lot!!!!!!! She give me a lot of info.that I needed to know,that I was not doing.

I would cry,and stay up all night long.And it would get on my nerves so bad.I almost stopped hatchingI bought me 2 LGS...And thought that I had it made !!!! ,,,,WRONG !!!!!

Still could not do right,but this was before I talked to Jody,and she steered me in the right way.If you read this Jody,I mean what I say.Thanks so much for all your help

,,,And yes I still go back and have to ask ?`s..If I can be of any help just let me know or hinckj on here at BYC.THe big secret is don`t open the bator.Temp should always be around 99.5 to 100.And the 1st 18 days,humity should be around 55-60%.Then fill all trays with water,and I don`t take my plug out,but that is better for me.Then the humidity should be around 65% or so.And that should work,Good Luck,,,,BackSwampGirl

It's keepin' the mitts outta the bator!!!!!

I mentioned once before that my dh put my incubators in the basement because I have problems with my knees and the basement steps are really steep, so it hurts to take them. It keeps me out of the basement. .....most of the time. Tonight, there are ducks hatching and it's driving me nuts not to go down there......Can't......go......downstairs!!!!

Yeah, that is why I have my 14 Serama eggs under Big Momma. Temp? perfect. Humidity? Perfect. And I expect she is turning them just as they should be turned.

I just put my hand in twice a day to feel them and make sure she has not pooped on them.

I have to say, although I think the temp on my Genesis is high, and I plan to try to fix it when this hatch is over, for some reason, my turkey eggs from OK Carla, are hatching to beat the band!

It makes me wonder if turkey eggs don't like a slightly higher temp. My other eggs have been dying in the shell, but of nine turkey eggs, I think I ordered five but she sent extra, two went rotten

one candled clear and I tossed it, I have three turkey babies in the little brooder box at my feet, and two more have pipped and are cheeping loudly. So this is GREAT for the turkey eggs!

It really does make me wonder.

I am sooooo happy to know it is not just me that has had such bac luck. This is year 3 for me. I have 2 styrofoam hovabators. My first batch of eggs were sucesses. I had a 30% hatch. So I thought, gee this isn't too bad. So I bought eggs offered on eBay and set again. 1 chick out of 25 eggs. Okay, I'm doing something wrong....tried again...None hatched the next time.

The next year, before I started I bought the fans for the incus. I got a little better hatch last year....not much though. I was reluctant to set any eggs this year. It is so devastating to have pips that don't hatch and I know it says "don't help a chick out", but it is almost impossible for me to stand by without trying!

This year I set both incus with "designer eggs" from our flock and I could not believe I got 31 chicks out of 36 eggs from one and 29 chicks from 36 eggs out of the other!! We are overrun with chicks! I have set the incus again with purebreed eggs....so hopefully I will have at least good luck, not great luck with these guys!

I reallllly like this website. There is so much information and help out there!

I don't know what incubator or how old your instructions are but all the later models say 102. My comments were not meant to be degrading. They are facts. People tend to want to hear the easy answers and never want to hear facts. I am trying to help and that is all. If you choose not to listen to facts that is your choice.
