Its venomous, aggressive, AND endangered...what do you do?

I do better having snakes around (not spitting Cobras though) than big poisonous insects. Yuck! Scorpions in the house would be a non-starter for me, for sure!
And Michigan is lovely! Very few small rattle snakes, no grizzly bears, wolves far from our area, and very few cougars.
Texas sounds like a great place, but not the interesting critters to share it with.

I can deal with almost any animal Texas has thrown at me except
FIREANTS.
I hate em.
Quick story
When kids were small toddler age, outside, he lost balance and sat down-in fireants, immediately started screaming.
I ran grab him and started knocking ants off.
Someone driving bylaw me slapping a screaming baby.
Called cops.
Cops came, small town, cop was a friend.
He asked why I was beating son-they'd had a report.
1 word
Fireants.
He looked at the 50-75 firearm bites on son leg and told me to ok.
Case closed.
Son recovered, no child abuse.

I like the way you all think in the south….I too would SSS. Enough said…
We'uns in the South don't like varmints bothering our critters. Ain't got no use for a poisonous snake excepting to throw it at the tax man. Hold my tea, hun, there's a commotion going on at the coop. Southern women don't need no gun. Just give us a shovel and we'll take care of that varmint. We'll slaughter, shovel, and shut up right quick if need be. Bless your heart. I'll take my tea back if you don't mind. Does a body good to see such a polite young'un.

When i kill poisonous snakes, i make sure my final act is to literally grind, smash
and pulverize their heads into the ground. Doing so solves two potential issues. 1) A snake can remain alive, aware and able to bite for up to an hour after being beheaded. Destroying the brain ensures it wont be able to bite one of my dogs or chickens that may wander up to investigate . 2) Because a beheaded snake is for a time is still alive and aware, destroying the head ends the snake's pain.

So I’m a city girl turned country this year when I moved out of the suburbs….I have 2 raccoons that are sniffing at my coop. I’m really trying to live and let live since I don’t free range and the coop/run is as predator proof as it can be.

BUT….I see them on the night cam and want them gone….same motto applies here yes? These guys have to be 25 pounds….my tolerance for live and let live is diminishing….someone needs to hold my tea🤣

Electric wire ..... works

2 ft Velvet tail.
He kept getting closer and closer. Within striking range.
Yesterday afternoon about 3, all my birds squawking and running from barn like they're lives were in danger. They gathered at the propane tank discussing it and looking at the barn.
We were on our way to town, I did not go to barn. I figured local kitty upset em. 2 hrs later, we're home, girls still by house.
7 o'clock I go to put them up, they follow me to barn then stop and start fussing.
2 fr velvet tail staring at me. I am between it and chickens. No protection nothing to defend myself except a 2 ft kids rake I use to clean coop.
I step back, it moves forward. Same thing again. He's within striking range.
What would YOU do?
I restrained him with kid rake called for help and relocated.
Just now killed a 🦂 in bathroom.
Not my day.
Stay safe
All the rattlers that are a nuisance, get shot or dispatched with a shovel. Nuisance snakes are ones that pose a danger, for whatever reason. Those that are not a nuisance, I just leave alone. Having lived in ratttle snake country forever, they are generally nothing to fear. We've had up to 10 different rattlers on a day. Spring and summer are when they're everywhere.
And, I still get a little fright when I see one...
