Hey Everyone! Let us all give a cheer for Barry!
I drove to Port Saint Lucie yesterday to pick up my nephew so ds will have someone (besides me) to play with for the month. I got just south of Kissimmee and it started sprinkling. It hasn't stopped yet.
Apparently, we are in the path of this little Tropical Storm, Barry.
This is GREAT except . . . What do I do with my babies? I opened the ducks' door this morning and they are as happy as . . . well, as ducks in the rain. I'd had some trouble with one of the turkeys so they were isolated into a 2'x3' dog pen onto which I had laid the pan (from the bottom) over the top. Last night, the boys and I stretched a tarp over it to cover it totally. This morning, we adjusted the tarp to open one end, sort of pup tent style. I think that should suffice for them. Should I stake tarps over the chickens' coops or will thye be safe? I was going to try building a make-shift awning then open the door for the big ones, so they can come out, but now it looks like that won't happen. Should I just leave everyone cooped up until the rain clears (likely, tomorrow) or longer, or what?
I'm totally thrilled about this rain and everyone who came dripping into the store this morning, seemed to agree. Thanks to all of you car-washer, coop-painters who sent your powers this way!
I'm running in the rain here.
