ive posted this alot but im POSITIVE I got a cuckoo marans this time!

Ok can someone please correct me on this if I am getting. so tell you the differen breed? if your so I have a 5 week old BR that i bought at a feed mill but her legs is black and white. Would that make her a cuckoo maran, will post a pic for everyone. Thanks for the input

Here are mine in the same picture. The cuckoo marans (chocolate colored egg layer) is on the left. The barred rock (beige egg layer) on the right. Mine are not breeder quality and the legs look to be about the same color.

Well idk what to say. I can say that ppl might be trying to be honest. I saw a lady selling a black and gold chicken at a swap saying it was a cuckoo marans. It wasnt barred. It was all black roo with gold in its hackle. Ppl round here call my cm dominiques just cuz theyre barred. Sorry youve had bad luck.

Well mine looks more like the one on the right, will take and post a picture when weather permits

My husband can't tell the two apart but the cuckoo on the left looks like the black and white are a tad blurry....like you need to squint to sharpen the colors?....the barred rock has a sharper definition between the black and white, and I think, is lighter. But the barred rock does lay a beige egg and the cuckoo on the left is a chocolate colored egg layer and she is larger although she is younger than the barred rock. Sometimes the cuckoo's eggs are really quite light and hard to tell from the barred rock's. It's like her egg coloring doesn't work well. Then there are days where they are spotted! Neither of these is breeder quality.
