Like everyone else, I am sad and mad!!! Much as this was a devastating experience for your very brave daughter -- she is learning the valuable lesson that nothing worth fighting for goes down easy. You don't want to quit just now, making her efforts useless. As hard as it is, stand your ground.

My heart goes out to you and your family. If given the opportunity to speak further to council members, perhaps informally while at you home, you might suggest that your compound might be used as a test case or a model, the standard of which future duck pens might be held. Even offer your knowledge and expertise to new duck owners so their experience is a successful one.

There is no accounting for ignorance and bad behavior -- one can see how easily a mob can form.

You have my brightest wishes that this turns out well.

I favor the thought of taping the proceedings next time around. i would also see if a few friend could help you with the project. When things are done offer the tapes to the local TV station or at least post to Youtube, I would make sure that I got the faces of the hecklers on video. Let these Yahoos know that the world is watching them.
