Ivomec in water.

For the life of me I dont understand why somone would rather put it in water than catch a bird and give it to them. And most people who put it in water only have a few birds.

Then why are the directions on the UPA site under Peafowl Medications?

3cc per gallon of drinking water. (It doesn't say for 2 or 3 days but that's what most do.) If you're sure about what your saying you should contact them about their mistake.

I realize it's not a big deal for breeders to catch and inject but those of us that have them as pets and property ornaments probably shouldn't even try. Many of us are retired. Besides being difficult and possibly dangerous there is the stress.....for us and the peafowl. Just my humble opinion. (-:

My mistake. The information is on the Craig Hopkins Website under Peafowl Medications so they need to remove that method of worming. Can Fenbendazole know as Safeguard be used in water? Is there another we could rotate between? Sorry DMFarms...I was wrong.

There are a lot of out dated things on the UPA website that I have tried to get updated and replaced with the right ways to do it without success, just maybe one of these days we may get it updated.

As for worming you hear these folks saying well we have to many birds to catch to give shots too, let me see right off the top of my head Brad Legg (Leggs Peafowl) catches about 2000 Peafowl twice a year for shots, Gwen Hibler (Backroads Farm) 300 to 400 birds twice a year, Doug McNutt (D&M Farms) a couple hundred and the list goes on. We don't have as many now but at one time we caught around 350 birds including chickens to give all them shots twice a year as well. You can catch and give each bird a shot of Ivomec Plus 1cc and this should be good until you do it again later in the year, but you will still need to worm with other stuff as well because Ivomec don't kill all worms. We like to Ivomic then 1 month later use Safe Guard for Goats in their water 4 to 5cc to 1 gallon of water for 3 days, but remember just because this works for us it may not work for you You may need to worm more if in wet areas etc....

If you have free range birds and can't catch them, then just use the Safe Guard 4 to 5cc to 1 gallon of water for 3 days changing water everyday then 1 month later use something else like Valbazen or something like that.

I'm thinking most of those not wanting to catch the peafowl, are those that are free ranging them. Not like of us breeders that keep them penned,

What would be the directions for Valbazen? I do use Safe Guard. Thanks folks for all the help.

Sorry, meant to say I tried that and it doesn't work. No room in the grape for any more juice and if they can taste the ivermec in the bread they don't swallow it. A dose is quit a bit to get into food.
