Ivory the Rooster: Day 665 *updates*

Day 57: A New Home
Hey everyone! Guess what? Ivory just moved into her "big girls" box!
ya.gif
I cleaned it all up, put her light in, put her mirror in, and her food and water. I even gave her a bigger food dish. She eats so much now that she doesn't need her little dish anymore!

She feels so grown-up. lol

Here are a couple pictures of her in her new box:

Her and the mirror: (a.k.a the "Intruder"...that's what she calls it anyway.

She can no longer jump out, thankfully. She looks so much smaller in her big new home.

More pictures: Day 57

Today Ivory met our Cockatiel, Moss.

She was a little scared of him, especially when he flapped his wings, but she kept trying to peck his tail and his toes.
tongue.png
I think Moss was more afraid of her because he kept hissing at her and didn't want anything to do with him.

I have been following this tread with great interest. It is fascinating to see the difference that nutrition can make. A lesson for all of us I think. Your sweet little chick is getting so big. Amazing!!!!! I cant wait the see him/her when she is full grown. Keep it going!

This is such a riot! Never in my life did I dream I would see photos of a half-grown chick and a cockatiel on a floral-print sofa! But somehow on BYC, it almost seems normal! Love watching your little one grow!

Thanks! When I put Moss, the Cockatiel, on the side of her brooder box, he will whistle and sing to her and she will stand up really tall and try to bite his toes!

I bet if you searched all over Google for a picture of a half-grown chick and a Cockatiel on a floral-print sofa, you wouldn't find any.

She is growing more everyday and her tail is growing out much more!

Her little stubby tail is so cute!

lol
It has been raining and cold the past couple days, so she hasn't had a chance to go outside at all. But she has been getting plenty of free time outside of her box by walking around in my bedroom. In fact, she's taking a little "dust bath" in a pile of blankets as I type this.

With her constant feather growth, her comb has also been growing and it is turning red. She also has little red wattles coming in!

I'm seriously thinking she's a rooster....

As you can see, she has some nice buff feathers coming in on her chest and shoulders. Her wings are gray colored with some buff in them. Her tail is a chocolaty brown. And her back is an interesting mix of buff/dark gray. I can't wait to see what she looks like when she feathers out completely!

More updates to come later!

I have to agree, unfortunately.

But even if she is a he, she/he can keep her/his name because it's for male and female.

I just wish we didn't have to keep 4 roosters who share 2 coops.

But there's no way I could sell my little Ivory.

Well for one, I keep her box really clean so it doesn't stink up everything. And while she's out of her box, I just lay down some old newspapers on the floor so she can walk around as she pleases. I will sometimes let her come on my bed while doing homework, but she snuggles under my blankets the whole time so she doesn't poop. And if she does by mistake, I will just quickly clean it up with some paper towels and spray cleaner.
