Ivory the Rooster: Day 665 *updates*

UPDATE: Day 61
ya.gif

Today Ivory is VERY energetic!
lol.png
It's still chilly and wet outside, so she has been spending her time in my room. It's so funny to see her little antics; she will pounce, leap, hop, run, and flap around. If I walk near her, she will flap her little wings, leap into the air and run to the other side of the room.

It's so hilarious to watch!
lol.png
She loves coming out of her box.

Robin'sBrood :

That comb sure looks like "her" name might have to be changed.

Ivan, perhaps?

No, she can keep her name because Ivory is a female and male name.

UPDATE: Still Day 61- Chicken Games

Today I discovered that besides the game of me feeding Ivory cooked egg (by holding a piece in my hand and letting her jump up and grab it and then play keep-away), Ivory also has another favorite game.
tongue.png
When she's in her box, I will crouch down and slowly rise up a little until my head is only visible to her. Once she notices me, I will slowly crouch back down and wait a few seconds, then I will pop up and say, "Peek-a-boo!" at her and she will leap into the air and run around her box in a playful frenzy. Then she will run over to the side of the box I am closest to and try to jump up and peck my face!
lol.png
I crouch back down, wait a few seconds, then pop back up again and she does her little excited/startled reaction all over again and tries to peck my face again!
gig.gif
She really likes playing this new game of hers.
tongue.png
Especially when she succeeds in jumping up and pecking my face after running around like crazy in her box.
lol.png

Also, Ivory is very excited about Easter this Sunday!
ya.gif
I am, too! She's going to help with the decorations and even finding the eggs that are hidden everywhere.
tongue.png
And it's her first Easter!

Just thought I would share.

Day 63: Preparing for Easter with Ivory!
wee.gif

Ivory is 63 days old today!
ya.gif
It's a warm, gorgeous day outside so she has been enjoying dirt baths and foraging around in the newly-growing green grass.
smile.png
She loves going outside so much that right when I bring her out, she will jump up and flap her wings in excitement as soon as her big feet hit the ground!
lol.png

On top of all her little adventures outside, Ivory has been helping with Easter decorations! She "supervised" me as I put a few decorations up, such as a lit-up rabbit.
tongue.png
She's so excited about Easter tomorrow!!!
ya.gif
She's going to help find hidden eggs, eat candy (at least she thinks she will get some candy, but I know better not to give her any!
tongue.png
), and it's her 1st Easter!

Also, our yellow lab, Dawson, has been trying to make friends with Ivory. He likes to watch her and sniff her, but today she was dust-bathing and he came up to her. Apparently she didn't like him sniffing her, so she stood up, spun around, and pecked him right in the nose!
lol.png
He jumped back in surprise. Of course, it didn't hurt him, but I think it scared him and it just shows how much bigger and older she's getting. It also show that she may be a rooster because of her slight aggressive towards Dawson.
roll.png
And one time she "faced-off" for a second with the laptop while I was taking pictures of her. lol

Day 63: Update (Pictures!)

Guess what?? Ivory did something she (he???) never did before! She faced off with my foot!
lol.png
I had her outside and I was walking near her, and I put my foot up to her and she stood up tall and puffed her neck feathers up at it and pecked it!
ep.gif
She would only do it to my foot though. So she wasn't showing aggression towards me in particular, but only my foot, because maybe she thought it was another chicken? That's what our other (now adult) chickens used to do when they were young, anyway. But even the hens would do it. They would run up to each other and have a quick face-off with each other. Sometimes they would even jump and kick, too!
lol.png

Now, here are the pictures for today!

Wow!! Ivory looks SO great!!!!!

I haven't checked in a couple of weeks, and s/he's looking beautiful! You're doing such an awesome job! And what a fun little chicky! So glad you'll be able to keep her...even if she turns out not to be a "her".

Yep. I need to start calling her (HIM!!!) a "him" from now on I guess. But for some reason I feel like there's still some hope. Her body still isn't caught up all the way, after all.
idunno.gif
So it feels strange to call her (I mean, him!) a boy instead of a girl.

And thanks KKatknap! He/she is definitely improving!

Ivory looks great and sounds like he is one happy little fella.(Sorry, I have to agree with everyone...I think Ivory is a roo) You've done a fantastic job rehabilitating him. If I remember right, you have other chickens at your house, right? Are you going to, eventually, introduce him to the others, or keep him as a house chicken? Don't worry if you havn't thought that far ahead...I was just curious.

I hope you and Ivory have a wonderful Easter! Enjoy the day!
