Jack Russell Terrier vs. Coon - Fight Photos & Dead Predator

How did you manage to just open the door and have your camera right when a coon was on your porch? I'm sorry I just don't think posting photos of the dog actually killing the coon is appropriate. Its different seeing a dead coon and seeing it actually being killed.

certain breeds of dogs were bred to do certain jobs, to me , its just a dog with a job, and he does it well.

For some, that's what dogs are for. Not all dogs are kept solely for companionship and cuddling. Some of them actually have work to do. If the camera's handy, why not?

I've got a working dog, but I don't record his actions because of liability

I guess it all depends upon what kind of work he's doing.

maybe the dog would of had a better fight if it was a normal sized coon. the coons aroud here get huge and when my dog was running one, they went into a river and the coon got on top of my dog a drowned him. (75 lb walker hound)

Your little JRT is an awesome example of what a dog should be. Well behaved and trained yet still able and quite capable of doing the job he was bred for. I wish every dog owner understood this. Great job on both of your parts his for killing the coon and to you for raising and training your dog so well.

Why?

Because it is to me, why would you need to question that? Sure you might see a dead dog in the road, but would you wanna see it get hit by the car? I see it as exactly that.

Either side of the coin should be allowed to state their opinion as long as it doesn't violate the UA.

Of course they do. I think the point is, why would someone who is likely to be disturbed by it open a thread that is so clearly labeled as this one is? If you are going to be upset by seeing fight photos and a dead predator, why would you even open a thread titled "Jack Russell Terrier vs. Coon - Fight Photos & Dead Predator"? And if you are going to do so, why complain about how upsetting it is to you? If you don't want to be upset by it, don't open the thread.

All these threads about dogs killing chickens and people killing dogs that kill chickens, and people complain about a thread about a dog doing something positive. That seems just plain weird and completely out of kilter to me.

And that's my opinion.

You are certainly entitled to that. It just don't see what the difference is. I don't get it, that's all. A coon killed by a dog is going to look all torn up. It will be clear how it got that way... a horrible, bloody battle with a dog, and it isn't all that tough to imagine the act itself.

The positive thing about the pictures is seeing just how close in size the combatants were. That's not the same as my 60 pound lab tearing up a coon or a possum. That's what makes this story (and dog) all the more amazing. I'm much more impressed with this breed than I was before.

As to analogies, I think a better one than roadkill is me butchering a chicken. Is it really less disturbing to see a chicken with its head lying in the grass and the headless body bleeding out than it is to see me actually swing the axe?

ETA
And I find neither of those disturbing, but if I did, I wouldn't click on a thread titled "Me killing a chicken-- Photos of the action".
