Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

I
it looks like it might have died recently...still blood in the veins...full term...that yellow stuff is usually in the bottom of the shell kind of thickened up after they hatch!

do try again....

I don't remember where did you get these eggs?

These eggs are from my own chickens, my dead roo and my favorite hen. I didn't kill it did I? I saw no movement when I opened it, it's day 24. Oh I hope I didn't jump the gun :( I have no home grown fertile eggs to work with, and I dont know of any good breeders in my area (maryland) to get eggs from.

Thank you, I've learned so much from you all and have loved seeing your fuzz balls. It won't be long, I hope, until we have a little fuzz ball around here too. I do miss those eggs though. After so much time and care its hard to believe they aren't here anymore.

((Hugs))
I'm really sorry this happened. Hope you figure out what went wrong. Sometimes it's nothing we do wrong, it could have something wrong with itself. Hatching is a lot of hard work, & an emotional roller coaster. The ups are WAY up & the downs are WAY down, but it is the ups that make it worth while.

I'm so sorry for your loss! Maybe you can find someone local and try again when you are ready. I know it won't be the same as having one from your favorite roo and hen, but it will be comforting to have new life around.. ((hugs))

Yes, counting the days. Oh wait already been doing that.

Been working on the new addition to the coop, so now I'm behind in reading posts. One more day to finish enclosing, then on to painting.

I can't wait to see pictures when it's all done. I am working onmy breeding pens, well, would be if I wasn't fixing broken pipes.

how fun we've been doing the same thing!!! I think tomorrow...late....I'll be able to move some of the birds I want moved ...I'll paint at anytime!!!
lota work huh?
Post pictures of yours too. I paint the wood before I put it up. So much easier. I cut it all, lay it across my saw horses and paint it at waist level.

Been a good day chicken wise. Just set 34 eggs, black sex links and easter eggers. Also picked up a load of free recyled lumber that should be enough to finish my second coop and fence in yard area. Had to move my incubator inside though, just to cold outside for it to hold temp . Looking forward to the next few months of hatching chicks and building my flock up.

Thank you all for your support. It is very sad, hardest part was unplugging the incubator. For so long now every time I walked through the room I checked it, I keep getting the instinct to go check it but it's empty. We didn't think this would work from the get go, so I felt prepared for a loss, but it was a lot harder then I thought it would be. Looking forward to spending some time with my big healthy girls in the coop tomorrow, so grateful to have them.

Oh! I am on day 7! One week down, 2 to go! WOO WOO!

So far, everyone of the eggs seem good still- except for one, which is showing no growth- no veining or anything. It's pretty clear, so I think it's not going to develop, but the hubby refuses to give up on it yet.. I'm sure I will be the one that will encounter a mess with a rotten egg if I wait too long.

How long would you all wait to take out non-developing eggs?

Oh my my silly mother heard peeping in my incubator and removed the lid on day 19 to listen to each egg to find the one making the noise then called me up at work to tell me about it I about flipped out we have no external pips yet thank god told her to leave it alone watch and listen from outside the incubator thought I might have issues with my 13 yo not my 61 yo mom lol
