Ok is it time to intervene? the chick keeps sticking its beak out in the same spot. Like it wants to zip but can't. You can see its beak in this pic.

If it's been less than 12 hours there is no worry at all. He's just resting while the veins & yolk absorb. If he stays like that for more than 24 hours then it's time to help.
 
5 out so far. Yeeee. One has open in the middle. I opened a little more so it can breathe cause I lost a few last hatch cause of drawing. Veins still not absorbed.
 
they just do that to breath- some people think their breathing is labored, but it is just because they are getting used to our air. if they have pipped they can breath and resting in egg can take up to 24 rs. even if it looks like they are not moving they are absorbing.

As long as you can see his beak, or movement right there..as in the membrane moving, then wait a while longer. Just resting for now. If you don't see movement for a while, and there is no zipping at all going on, time to help.
