Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

Thanks you make me feel better, also every day from 18 ive been chirping to the eggs no reply yet. Ill see in the morning, also im using a broody not a bator lol, mine hasnt come yet. More encouragment would be helpful.

As for a broody hatching. Just had my first hatch some this month. 3 chicks on Jan 1st, 1 chick on Jan. 3rd and 1 chick on Jan 5th. So, you are still fine.

Thanks can you tell im stressing out second time with a broody. Easy breath. Gosh i just want lil chickies so bad, and im sure Mama does to.

This looks alot like what im seeing except darker, omg i was so tempted to candle but nope. I did yesterday and this is what we saw except much much darker. Coudnlt shine the light through. also like this just didnt see viens, but very dark eggs. I saw a video where that was good that it was dark. heres the link

I think everyone gets stressed. I also just hatched out some in an bator. 5 out of 11. But my two previous batches were disasters. So I was very nervous with these. My hubby joked with me that my hen was better then me cause she did it in below freezing weather.

Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of experience with broodies and have never candled broody eggs before. But there is still time. It's a sit and wait right now. Happy thoughts!

The eggs are fine...If they were clear at this point, then they would not hatch................
Seeing black is good........................and your decision to not candle was good also.........
Handling them at this point is a no no..............they are trying to get in position to hatch.........As hard as I know it is, the big lesson is trust your broody

She really needs to be left to do her job............As far as hearing chirps, it's a little early......and sometimes they just decide to hatch
without making a sound............. Everything is fine....try to stay busy....I clean house...........
