Holy crap guys... Looks like my duck eggs aren't the only babies I'm incubating. Currently freaking out. Not sure how to tell DH. He won't even be home till Friday night so I've got a little bit of time.
Congrats! If you can, ya gotta use Skype to tell him, I'm not sure which is better, telling him over the web camera or in person. If it were me I'd want to know right away, unless had a really stressful job & that's why I was away from home.. Oh boy I'm so excited for you!!! I have 2 kids, but would have loved to have more... A LOT more! HAHAHAHA love my hubby so much!
Ok, I have to admit...that I went back to the photo to see what that little one was wearing..and I saw some pink! Cute girl. I have a daughter that was mistaken in person, very often when she was about the age of 8 to 10. She had her hair cut short. No makeup yet. No one would mistaken her as a boy now. :) I want a splash something really bad..preferably a Marans. An EE would be fine too..just love the splash. Haven't had one in a while. Those eggs..are to die for. Just beautiful. Wouldn't mind having that color in my nest box either!
Oh yeah, I know how it is in person haha! My son was mistaken as a girl a few times. He's in the process of growing his hair long so I'm sure we'll get more of that too. It's amusing to me. My daughter wants her hair to her cheek bones & has asked more than a few times. I told her it would be something she can't take back once it's all said & done. & told her maybe to wait until she's older (she's 6 now). She also wants her ears pierced but I told her we're going to have a piercer do it & not with the gun. It's less painful & heals faster, but we have a trusted friend that can do it, so it won't be intimidating at all. She can get that done when she's responsible enough to keep her room picked up & take care of her belongings... But I digress... It's pretty neat having a colorful egg basket, & barnyard mixes- you get some pretty interesting patterns. I should take a few pics & send them to you sometime soon.

I love me some chipmunk babies. These are cute. Can't wait for mine to hatch. I have some EE's going into lock down tomorrow. They say they are Ameraucanas, but won't know until I see the color of those legs. And, the color of their feathers as they grow..but I think they just called them Ameraucanas. I don't mind..pretty eggs they are. Then I have my Rhodebars and BO's going into lock down this Fri. Then...lol...more EE's that will hatch the 4th of Feb. Then...lol.... I have some more OE's coming from Arielle that is on here..BYC. Then, lol..I'm done until the Easter Hatch A Long. Haven't decided what I want to hatch for that one yet. If anyone here hasn't done the Easter Hatch A Long...it is the most fun Hatch A Long! It moves along fast! They have a lot of contests..so much company in there. Just fun. You usually find a couple of folks that you find that you can keep up with and are more of a hatching buddy with them..because there are a lot of them in there..can't keep up with all of them. This is good practice for those of you that are hatching your first time, or second...you will be ready for the Easter Hatch A Long. Keep your eyes open for it coming. :)
Wow you must be busy! Those are so adorable! Don't ya just hate that about EEs/ameraucanas?! I was sold 2 Araucanas, then I found out what I thought to be Aneraucanas, but now, I'm thinking plain old EEs. I don't mind EEs either, but I expected some Araucanas! I would LOVE to do the Easter hatch a long, but I think we are putting our house on the market before then, so I will have to worry about keep the house immaculate for potential buyers. I'd much rather hatch lol

#3 is out but is all wet... broody let me take a peek, looks like it might definitely be a blue splash. I probably won't get any more pics until tomorrow. We have a storm rolling in & even though it's nice right now, it's going to drop down to 30*F uggghhhh I hate this up/down weather! I caught bronchitis because of it, on week 3 with a cough & sore throat.

Take care of yourself, I caught it right after Thanksgiving, lost my voice...completely...for almost 3 weeks, horrible cough that I'm just now getting under control..... We have had several deaths in the Northwest, its a scary flu that's out there

We have a miracle our old roo Oliver got Accidently left out in the run with out food or water for over a week. He is the last one out of all our first chickens so he is pretty special. I hopped out of the car and up to the barn not knowing what to expect. That's when I heard his crow from the back of the run. I rushed out there to find him huddled in the corner on the side of the barn. He had frostbite on his comb and a tip had fallen off. I was so stunned he had practically no injuries. I grabbed him and brought him in to some girls where he is now happily roosting. So Goldie died, Oliver is alive, and I think my Lacey is broody.
