Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

Start of day 14..... so far out of the 23 eggs I started out with, 21 are doing great, 2 were early quitters.. Cant believe lockdown is Monday!!! Reminded hubby today that we got to go get the brooder out of the storage building and get it ready by Sunday just in case we have early hatchers! I doubt any will hatch early, Temps and humidity have been very stable this time around and the past two weeks have just flown by... I'm so exited to see the German New Hampshire's I set, just hope nothing happens within the next week to mess it all up, I am alittle worried about things going so smoothly

Winds here are terrible. Had 115 gusts tues and 87 today...............
chickens are grounded to their coop and not happy at all.................
I have discovered about my way off readings on my hygrometers that
it depends where they are located in the incubator..........
I have still air................Yesterday had one read 15 and another 40.................

so I swithched places with them and checked 30 minute later.
Sure enough......they changed degrees based on their location.
I move my eggs about once a week because of possible cold spots in the inc...........
Had never thought of a difference on the humidity............
Have not figured out a solution yet....hate to buy a fan.I am saving for a new incubator..
But maybe will have to............

morning
that explains why some of your chicks hatch so much after 21 days...mine hatch 20 to 22 days...usually 21 though

Gen how's the baby? it's a vitamin deficiency but I've never had one recover...I've read where others have!

Ok I'm pretty sure I was able to give it a couple drops of the mix but I don't think it was enough. It tried to eat egg yolk, pecked at it but I'm not sure how much it are... It's standing, chirping, falling asleep.. I do think it's a vitamin deficiency. The legs are a little shakey too

This is what it looks like, seems like it can't hold up his head, it's sure good standing, but it seems a little "slow" I'm not sure if I want to put it back with the others

I put the towel around it. Looks like it's trying to snuggle.. It's chirping now, but the eyes are closing now. I'm about to try to feed it again. I put honey & ACV in the water too

Doing a lot of leaning too may have to put it in a sling... One leg looks like it's turned outward, not quite spraddled

@Gen9, good luck with your chick! I had one really bad sprawled legged lav am chick last year, and it grew out of it eventually but it took a while. I taped the legs at the right width with a thin strip of band-aid for a week or two. Kinda felt sorry for the little gimpy fella, but he was strong-enough willed to overcome it. He managed to get around even with the band-aid on.

Should I keep it separated?

Should I keep it separated?

I didn't. It's your call, but I felt as long as it wasn't getting injured and was eating and drinking, I wanted it to grow with the other chicks so that I wouldn't have to re-introduce it later and have it go through the pecking order abuse. I did keep a close watch over the gimpy chick for a day or two.
