Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

mine made the mistake of saying I can hatch as many as I want with my wonderful INCUBATORS!
wish my hd say something like that. But he just looks at my cage with the chick (I have them in the living room) stops for a moment and then walks away. Lol. One day asked how long they had to be with the lights. In other words when are they coming outside.
;)he hasn't put two and two together. (I have two incubators running) and collecting more eggs. Lol

He's actually been really tolerant so far! and I know he likes them... he will let them out of the coop and hang out outside watching them. lol

They are just so much fun! love love love chicken TV! whether through the window to outside or the window into the incubator... even at eggs... that don't do anything... haha...

Joining in. :) I have sizzle/silkies that are due to go into lockdown on Friday! :)

Welcome. I will be hatching the same this weekend also.

Can I join? I set my eggs in the incubator Jan. 22nd so they are due to hatch Feb. 12th or so. I have a few Silkie eggs in and about a dozen and a half Barnevelder eggs in the incubator...all from my own chickens! I candled them all a couple of days ago and they all look good. One is a maybe but I'm sure the rest are looking fertile so I'm really happy with that! I am using an older LG with an auto turner. I wrap my incubator in a small blanket all around the edges to keep the temps more steady and I don't add water after the humidity gets up to around 50% initially. Because it started raining I doubt I'll have to add any water as the ambient humidity is pretty high. Anyway, I'm so excited to see what I get in two more weeks!

Welcome! I use an LG also. Mine have worked pretty well so far. I have another batch (Phoenix) hatching the 14th.

My eggs are all being held hostage by the postal service. One batch is local but the roads are closed.

Ditto, first time with quail and the last known by shipping tracking is Atlanta. Grrrr.

So, been almost two days since I've been on. Lots of posts since then.

Not use to this freezing weather down here. Having a lot of extra chores for the animals to do alone. Had a couple of scares last night. Power going off and on, outside heating unit covered in ice. Luckily we have several space heaters and a generator. Ended up wrapping the incubator in towels/blankets several times. Candled tonight and 7 wigglers will be going into lockdown tomorrow. Hubby's father went into the hospital in WV, so he left before all the bad weather started. Still no progress on father-in-law yet.

Anyhow, I see a few new members...Welcome, great to have you join! Several with eggs hatching & new baby chicks ...need pics. And several getting ready for hatches or going into lockdown...fingers crossed & Good Luck!

Oh, and my cochin hatched another baby last night. What is it with my broodies hatching on the coldest nights. My silkie did the same thing earlier this month.

I have the best DH... Since I hurt my back two years ago and had to close my business I have really enjoyed our little farm and raising what I can, He has helped me build and add whatever I want ( and what our one acre can support) when I told him I wanted to incubate and raise chickens and turkeys for the table he went all in. He is in the process of building me a new nesting box system in preparation for the new hens that should start laying next month...

I have one also....soon to celebrate 50 years

Okay here's my only issue and guess it will be a guessing game till the end but all my white light brow and cream eggs I can see what's happening those stuburn blue and green EEs not so much drives me crazy :-(
when the chick is big enough you'll probably be able to see it's movements some...but other wise you can only compare them to each other....what breed?
loving the blue eggs birds lately and striving for olive eventually
