Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

They are keeping him. The home health nurse did something wrong when she came by yesterday! It caused all of the bleeding. Oh man...

Won't go into details, but he still needs to get that stone out. Thank you everyone. I am not so worried now. And my son sounds a lot more relaxed! I see either appts. coming up, or they will keep him and decide to just go for it and do the surgeries in the next couple of days. I hope.

Hey, I'm seeing some pretty nice looking eggs and..baby chickie pictures on here!

Just hit 4 days out of 21 left, so day 17. I will be turning off the turner tomorrow morning. I candled and there was motion in 4 eggs from a total of 8 shipped to me. Pretty average thus far but I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch as it were. :| Last time I set eggs it was a dozen under a broody Australorp and only 4/6 developed eggs hatched (chicks were then promptly eaten by the local cats and hawks) so we will have to actually wait and see. My brooder lamp came in on time (woo!) now if the lightbulbs come in too I will be set. 9_9; I have a backup lamp if they don't but, well...

I'm HIPPOing what I've missed in the last 10 days, I'm down to 5 eggs left out of 32.

none of the ones I got locally were fertile. We go into lockdown Tuesday night.

I am alittle worried about this.. The lady who put me in contact with the guy she buys eggs from just told me a couple nights ago that over half the eggs she got from him were duds... We only paid 5 bucks a dozen but still.... I'll candle Wednesday ( day 7)

I'm so sorry. Must be so hard for you. Cool that you can be chicken nuts. Keeps my mind off problems.

Can someone explain what a late quitter looks like? I have one egg at day 17 that I don't see any movement inside. It's the one I posted about seeing a red circle up near the air space a couple days ago! and now I think that was a vein and now it's gone and the egg looks full of black, or a black chick but no movement. The air space looks normal though.

not seeing movement I don't believe means that it is a quitter...Your so close to lockdown and at this stage it is so hard to see, several of mine from my first hatch didn't move at all and I worried they were dead.. I was wrong... Check it again before lockdown.. My motto is if it don't stink don't give up!!!
