Janoel 24. INCUBATOR EXPERTS PLEASE

Upto day 18 leave the hole open, after that half close it. depending on the humidity if it gets too high open it to regulate. I find you get to know your machine and its not just turning it on. I have to change temp settings if it gets too high or too low.. Don't be afraid to change the LS and HS settings and make sure you have a good temp/humidity thermometor.

I have hatched chickens and Guinea fowl only. I wanted to try ducks but hubby doesn't want them to mess up our cattle ponds. As for the top vent I keep it open until lock down and then I close it. I bought a duel humidity and temp gauge that I use as a back up to monitor and adjust my water to regulate the humidity. usually 150 MLs a day until lock down then I double it. I usually get over 90% hatch. The back up thermometer gives is usually the same as the incubator reading and I have had to lower the temp depending on how warm it is outside. I keep my incubator out in the barn so it gets warmer there and I live in south Texas so we see spring temps in March in the 80's. When I kept it in the house in a controlled environment I never had to adjust the temp. Hope this helped a little. I think If I tried duck eggs Id just go by the temp and humidity instructions on this site and get at least a humidity monitor. Good luck.

First let me say if you have a circulating fan in your incubator DO NOT PLUG THE HOLE this allows the air to circulate----- you can check the temp of the incubator against another trusted thermometer if it doesn't agree you have to calibrate your temp. use the settings button go to CA adjust up or down by the deg your are out----after that a setting of 38c is good you can drop the temp a few deg after lock down(last 3 days) and increase humidity

Hi

I too have the Janoel 24 and am totally confused by the shocking so called 'easy to follow' instructions. I have left the settings as factory so on day 9 currently on 38 degrees. I started off with the vent closed and have a build up of condensation inside the unit on two corners. As like you, I have no idea what I have to do with the vent. I was going to open at day 18 but now think I have it the wrong way around. ANY help here would be much appreciated. So excited for the arrival but really nervous too. Many thanks, from a beginner :)

Ok not sure if any one has properly explained th "PU" yet but here you go it's not humidity look on the picture it's heating power parameter meaning how much powe goes the the heating element when heating it's range is 1-90 and factory is set at 35 this is not something you need to worry about don't touch it. It even says in its awful English I'll translate unless your a professional don't change. The instructions are broken English and badly layer out but it does cover everything you need to know. All except what I could not find out was the vent hole. but from previous research and making a rushed incubator for my first hatch. I know that is for fine tuning humidity.if you want more close a bit less open. also if need you can put some plastick or something over the water tanks to reduce the water surface area to reduce humidity or a sponge in the waterm to increase but that would mean a lot of stuffing around if you have eggs in there. All settings are in the instructions it just takes a bit of patentce. I have to used my janoel 24 yet. Doing a test run before I get my eggs mine seems close to accurate only about +.4 out will change it once I get another thermometer best to check with at least two before changing parameters

Hi folks. I just read through this thread and I think I can safely say my question has not been asked/answered but please correct me if I am wrong. I am new to this. I have noticed that the "work" light is illuminated on my Janoel24. It seems to flash a few times then remain on for a while before going off...the sequence continues. Any hints? Instructions are missing. Thanks, Hoss

I just bought my Magicfly Janoel 24 And had a little bit of trouble setting the temperature and humidity, after some tinkering I found the perfect setting and used about 75% less water than instructed. I’m starting my Pekin duck eggs 5 days early than our chickens...Will follow up in seven days

Hi all
I have one of these and have had woeful results like 6 out of 24 and 1 out of 12.
I have since done some experimenting and there is a temperature variation of 4 degrees C from the middle to the outside if the 'bator. What I have done to mitigate this is wrap the whole thing in a couple of towels and sat it in a box, plus I have cut out the grill that covers the fan thinking this would improve airflow. These two things have worked I now have only one degree of variation. I just hope any future chicks dont jump up into the fan now. I think one degree variation from middle to outside should be okay? Remembering this is without eggs which when present would effect airflow I imagine..
My current problem with this setup though is that if the ambient room temp goes over ~23 C the incubator begins to overheat. Was up to 40.6 C yesterday afternoon (see pic below).

So my next plan is to fiddle with the HU and HD settings although Im not sure what they do or if I need to tweak them up or down. Anyone have any advice? I would think HD (heat preservation power) would be the first one to try. Default is 40 so Ill turn it down to 20 and see how we go.
Once I have the temps nailed down I will set up a timelapse camera on some dummy eggs and see how good the turning mechanism is...

Ah this thing is a pile of junk. I have turned 'heat preservation power' right down to 1 and it still cooks the eggs if ambient goes over 24.5. Waste of $180 bucks right there (not to mention what I spent on the two hatches). I have just turned 'heating power' down to 1 from 9 if that doesnt work I'll rip its brains out and stick in an arduino to bend it to my will...
