JANUARY 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Thanks for your input. I am contemplating culling all three....

I got seven chicks from TSC last year (and I don't have any of them now, last year was a bad year). Anyhow, one was a silver sebright. It looked ok initially, but developed a severe crossbeak...I don't know how that happens? At about 8-9 weeks it quit eating/drinking and became real weak. We had to put it out of its misery.

I had 3 hatch this time and one had a bad leg problem I tried to fix and realized it wasn't going to work so out it went and chopped its head off. It was the right thing to do.

Sorry gentry about you having to cull :hugs I'm sure you have made the right decision.

I think my hatch is complete. 13/14 have hatched. 9 in the brooder and 4 fluffing up in the incubator. Last egg no action :celebrate

Thankyou!! Yes they are all polish. They have the same vaulted skull as the silkies.

Very sweet yorky! Enjoy them!

I am sitting with 3 pips still in my silkie eggs and one crele orpington pip... Trying to stay occupied!

Hope you have some action soon the waiting is a killer!! I've been up since 4am this morning just couldn't sleep and the night before 3 am. I'm feeling a bit weary now. I even resorted to moving a chair and cushion into the utility room so I could sit and watch the eggs!! Just candled the last egg and it has died sometime since lockdown I think. Although at lockdown there were some I did not see movement in so could have been one of them. That's incubating for you though and not all make it. Still really pleased with 13/14 for my first test batch of my own eggs. Good luck :fl

Wow great hatching numbers, awesome little fluffy butts :) I see you have the Brinsea Ecoglow as well, mine is the larger model, but I absolutely love it.
