Hi Everyone!

An update on my little chicken hatch. Today is day 10 I decided to candle. I have 13 eggs in my Farm Innovators 2200. I have been keeping a RH between 50-55%. I candled today and decided that the air sac looked a little small so I am letting the RH come down. I also discovered 4 eggs had blood rings :(

And two others I had trouble seeing what was going on in there. So the blood rings were removed and the other two I marked with a little question mark. I figure I will wait a few more days and see what I can see again. So I guess for me now, I am down to 9 eggs. I am really hoping this hatch has some results.

If humidity has anything to do with deaths, early deaths are usually a result of too high humidity, they don't lose enough weight and drown (the veins don't reach the inner sac wall fast enough). But this doesn't happen very often, so its more likely something else. The shells could be less porous (reducing the effect of the humidity), the eggs were too old, or there were issues in handling. 50% RH should be fine, all other issues aside, so I wouldn't change it by much.

Does your bator automatically turn, or do you have to do it manually? Perhaps turning more often could help.

Bummer. All of my Phoenix eggs are clear. It's only day 6 but I can't see a thing in them. I am thinking that the post office took too long delivering it. :( At least 9 silkies are still going strong!

Hi. I think I have the same incubator. I'm running it much lower. Also the one on the bator says 50% but my other two read 35% and 45%, so I think that the one that they supply is not accurate. I only fill a tiny square trough in the center (I bought a liner). And I live in AZ, so super dry here, otherwise I'd be straight dry hatching

I remember you from the September hatch a long. By Phoenix do you mean Arizona? That sucks. I met a guy who's trying to get into the chicken business but he's not quite there yet, a lot of stuff no one wants. I gave him Marans Roosters and bought this hatch but he owes me 2 dozen. I'm just practicing still really. But I want get things going because he has a lot of space.

Yes, that's a real bummer.'
I'm not a big fan of shipped eggs either, but sometimes that's a necessary evil. I'm going to have to do it again to get ore if the mottling.

Got to hatch and sell some chicks to get them ordered.

Had power outage eggs dropped to 80 degrees stuck by woodstove for while had them at 90 degrees power came on hooked all back up 30 mins later lost power again eggs went to 85 then brother brought over generator all running now but hope didnt hurt my hatch

3 pm today was 24 hours. I have 4 thermometers inside my incubator. I have 2 Farm Innovations a 4200 and a 4250. I have the 2 internal thermometers that came with them. I also have two fishtank glass thermometers. 3 out of the 4 thermometers are reading 97 degrees and the other 100 degrees which matches the digital display on the 4250. I decided that I must increase the bator heat to 102 and going to check it again in an hour to see what the 3 thermometers show. The 4200 incubator ran hotter than indicated before and I guess the 4250 is cooler than indicated. I don't want to screw up my first run this year like the last 2 years. I have the RH at 54%
