January 2016 Hatch-Come Join Me

I candled the eggs under my broody today (day 17). I saw movement in 2 out of 10. My light isn't very bright and some shells quite dark so in 7 others I could only see the air sac at one end. The last egg is so dark I can't see in it at all. But it's looking good for her at least getting some chicks out of them.

Well.out of five that were put in on christmas day I only have one survivor. We have a staggered hatch I am very sad we lost 4. Hoping for a better result for the rest. I will post pictures if my one little babe survives. Pray for my remaining babes to hatch on their own.

well, I don't take them out unless I am absolutely sure. So my recommendation is to leave them in. Worst case, they explode, but I have never had that happen.

Well, when you have eggs set on different days in the same bator, there's no clear answer. You really should have researched this before you set eggs 4 days apart. I have never done that and have no idea what to do. If your younger eggs have lost sufficient weight then you could just put them all into lockdown with a higher humidity, but if your younger eggs have not, you could be forcing them to hatch late.

Getting nervous. This was a lower temp incubation. At day 18 I candled and had all 4 with movement. Today is day 20. 99.5' and 60ish% humidity. Wish they'd wiggle more for me to see. Sigh.

Congrats! Can't believe they have little tiny naked necks at hatch.

Oh yes. You can see them naked necks right at hatch.

Here's my beautiful babies. 28 came out of the 29 eggs that went into lockdown. I'm pretty sure the last egg quit but I can't tell.

Thaysc s great hatch rate. Mine turned out if I remember correctly was 86.4% which is fair I've beaten that once before with a 92.something.

Here are a couple of pictures:

These five are the only ones that were not white except for the Naked Necks.

These are the 18 that are " white " they actually have black spots. This usually happens when you cross something to a White Leghorn.

I failed to get a shot if the little Naked Necked ones, but will try to get one in the next day or two.

My fingers are crossed! :fl Prayers are said. I wish you all the luck. I'm sorry about your last batch.
