Agreed, shipped eggs are definitely wonky. I looked up what might have caused our problem and 3 things were listed. One was low temp (nope), and the others were diet or gene related. So... there’s that.Oh my they’re the CUTEST chicks!!!! Congrats!!!!
I vote for shipped eggs are just wonky. I think things can go really wrong when they need to start absorbing the yolk sometimes, and we have no idea what’s happening in there.
sorry about the DIS and crossing my fingers for cockerels!!!!!
Emus. Laughing chickens. I wanna spend a day at your place.Agreed, shipped eggs are definitely wonky. I looked up what might have caused our problem and 3 things were listed. One was low temp (nope), and the others were diet or gene related. So... there’s that.
We always dry incubate, and don’t really ever go over 24% or so. I think more and more I’m preferring incubating, and maybe even hatching, upright.
Last hatch this month is the emu. I’m concerned about humidity, but I’m getting the feeling that if you haven’t added humidity all along, lockdown isn’t the tone to change that. But I don’t know for sure.![]()
I really like the blue copper ones. So jealous!Add being horrible at math to my list. I didn’t have 18 eggs in lockdown I had 21.The breeder must have sent me 29. What’s a couple more?
Final stats:
29 eggs ordered
27 eggs set
6 removed .. 3 clears, 3 early quitters
24 fertile eggs
21 made it to lockdown
TWENTY ONE HATCHED!!!!
10 Black Copper
10 Blue Copper
1 Splash Copper Pullet
I am beyond thrilled with my best shipped egg hatch ever!!!
