January 2020 Hatch along

Pics
Speaking of swaps I definitely gotta check out info for local swaps near me. I never knew that they were so popular? They definitely are charming, especially with their crests. I had some kind of a legbar mutt(?) Or regular, but he was really red. We don't have him anymore, but he was charming! (At least I think he was a legbar)

Very gorgeous!

The last days before lockdown are the worst! I’m running out of patience!

I cancelled my rare assortment from Meyer because it looks like they’re not hatching a lot of breeds yet. Instead I found someone local hatching some Whiting True Blues this weekend when my marans hatch and I’m going to trade her a few chicks for a few chicks.

Sounds like a good plan!

I was going to order from Meyers, but their assortments don't look too great right now with variety.

I'm going to wait until March then order

of the 12 that made it to lockdown, I have 1 rocking back and forth.

Does anyone else leave the egg rolling ring from their nature right 360 in place during hatching. I did this time to stop the pool table effect of the newly hatched chicks, but I am wondering about trapping their feet

I set 30 Silverudd's Blue eggs and 18 Olive Egger (SBxBCM) two days ago. Why so many SB? Because those girls are still laying like it's spring/summer/fall! :D

I see people online in some groups doing that. I could be off base but I’m pretty sure the flat turners like that are designed to be okay when left in.

The Ketawa are in lockdown. I took out clears/blood rings at 10 days. All that were left looked good this candling. 8 remaining, I think? Maybe 10 lol. I should know this.

In other hatching news, 2 emu eggs that we’ve been incubating go into lockdown on Friday.

good luck and EEEEE I cannot wait to see photos of the emus! When do they start whistling??
