January 2020 Hatch along

Pics
12 of 15 made it to lockdown. I noticed the air cells are smaller than I expected though, so hopefully I don't have issues with drowning. They are in line with 14 days along on the egg air cell chart and a few look like 7 day air cells. though they are all dark and full.

We will see.
What was your humidity and did you have a hygrometer in the incubator to see how far off your incubators is?

I had this issue my first hatch and it was because my humidity was too high throughout. I don't go above 40% until I see the first external pip then I bump it to 50%. I'm getting 90% hatch rates doing it that way.

Is it the 26th yet?! :lau

my problem is I'm at high altitude, over 5300 ft above sea level. So since I can't pressurize my incubator to sea level pressure, I have to raise humidity, so I ran at 67 - 70 percent, which normally gives me 50% on shipped eggs. but we had a freak weak of rain, High desert here and air humidity was higher than norm. This time of the year our ambient humidity normally runs in the teens, also the reason why we have to run a higher humidity in the incubator to combat the rapid moisture loss in shipped eggs.

My last hatch, when I had went to bed after lock down, the Hova-bator was at 65 percent, when I got up, it had dropped to 35 percent and I lost the entire hatch due to shrink wrapping.

These eggs are in the Nurture right 360, which holds the humidity better it seems. And I have recently double checked the hygrometer and it is spot on. I also run a digital backup thermometer/hygrometer inside the incubator. I have been hatching for over 20 years, but this is the first year hatching after I have moved to this elevation and desert environment from the midwest /east coast

That to me is enough to make me not want to buy ship eggs, ever. Most of them are not very cheap and I just feel like I'd be better off throwing my money out of the car window on the highway.

I understand why people get shipped eggs. I just don't like those odds personally for myself.
It sucks because I see some Blue Partridge Brahma eggs on EBay that i am ITCHING to get, but I've never done shipped eggs before, and sadly those eggs aren't cheap. Its such a gamble, in a way. I still want to try it out, but I guess time will tell..
