Here's the chick that hatched yesterday

Well the first chick was a bit early and got it's dumb ass up the wrong way, but made it with a little help eventually alone. It couldn't crack the shell cause the beak was at the wrong angle. As far as I can see there are a couple of external pips from the other eggs happening right now! :wee
Nice save! :highfive:

I had a "chick on the half shell" situation (pipped wrong end/malposition) in my last hatch, too...I waited too long on the first wrong end pipper and it died, so I wasn't taking chances on the second. The assisted one is happy, healthy, and indistinguishable from its hatchmates. :jumpy

After placing 19 eggs in the hatcher, 15 nice healthy chicks hatched. The only downside is the 4 darkest eggs didn't hatch. This batch came from a couple different flocks that were merged. One flock had not had a rooster present so they only had a rooster with them for less than a week before setting eggs.
I have more going into the hatcher later today.

Unless something drastic happens, these will be the last shipped eggs I place in the incubators. Or I should say I will be placing in the incubators on Sunday after a 24 hour rest after arrival. Which will put the hatch date around January the 12th.

I will be so thankful when I am back to hatching my own eggs instead of shipped eggs
Great chicks! This thread deserves a spot in the featured items on our homepage! Congrats!
