Definitely keep eggs at room temp, or slightly cooler like a basement, if you know they'll be incubating. I've read people also like turning them once or twice a day while waiting to start. Since my eggs go in pretty quick I don't usually worry about that. But any held more than a day or two would probably be worth turning.
turning makes sense. I never considered that.

I’ve had chicks for years and never really paid much attention to them as far as the little details.

is it normal for one chick to not really raise its head? It will stand and move but it won’t** hold its head high like the others.

I would say it depends on how long it's been hatched. It should perk up relatively quickly. Within 12 hours it should be acting normal or there might be an issue.

Thanks. I’ll check in the morning. But so far what I’ve seen it’s looking like wry neck 😞

It was walking backward with its head between its legs when I put it on a flat surface to check it. It will also walk straight in the brooder but with its head down.

I’m hoping it will be normal tomorrow, but if not, I’ll treat it. I just don’t see myself treating it for too long unfortunately, so I’m hoping it will heal fast.
