January Hatch-a-long 2018

I'd love to join in! I had to do an emergency hatch after half my flock got taken out today is day 14 and after removing 2 more duds I've got 22 eggs in the bator developing well! They should be hatching in around a week! My cream legbar is the daddy to all so hopefully most have cute little crests! Hoping for mostly little females of course View attachment 1227104

I just wanted to say hi and that this is my first time incubating and also these are shipped eggs. What a great combo am I right?so I have some black copper marans, cockoo marans, blue copper marans, splash copper marans, silkies, olive eggers, and blue laced red Wyandottes hopefully. I have the temp to 99 and the humidity is at 37-40. They were sitting out for 24 hours with none being cracked and now are in. Wish me luck any tips are needed and appreciated. Oh and I am planning to not turn or tilt them for the first couple of days.

so i was turning my eggs and i DROPPED one and it had a chick in it

Oh NOOOOOOO!!!! One of the reasons I use a turner - I'd forget to turn and drop them I'm sure. So sorry

I was setting up my eggs in the oct 40 incubator, I had some eggs I was ready to put in that one, I set up the separators and put in the cardboard tubes at the ends so the eggs stay still. When I put in the last card board tube on the end, I heard a tish sound as the cardboard tube expanded slightly, I cringed hoping it was just the sound of paper, but I looked and one of my pavloskaa eggs got dented, I put nail polish on it, but it is pretty cracked. my dumb fault.

So sorry!!!! That's yukky

I would like to join. I just hatched 8 out of 11 eggs that went into lockdown, some born the 3rd and the last one hatching last night. They are now in the brooder with my christmas hatch babies, and my one nyd hatch turkey. I set 44 barnyard mix eggs on dec 31st. I have been hatching by the moon since May and I believe it helps the ones that do hatch to thrive. My flock is very mixed, I have a rir roo over welsummer, cuckoo marans mix girls, golden sexlink and one rir hen. I have a Large white roo that was given to me over NN, light brahma, delaware, and dark Cornish girls, and my white leghorn roo is over leghorns and assorted ee mix girls. I also have a cuckoo marans roo that has fathered a good number of my girls over the last year he currently has a NN girl and a white mix hen. I love the different colors of both eggs and birds, I do like that the rir over welsummer chicks that I have hatched have turned out very well, the 2 hens I hatched in early Aug were laying in dec. so at about 4 months, and beautiful dark brown eggs too.

Yeah! I can't be too upset. It was our own dog that did it. But I'm hoping the eggs in there do well. I'm sure some we're probably what most people consider too old but we'll see!

Welcome!!! What incubator are you using?

I was gonna use the janoel 12 but I decided to use a little giant because I couldn’t get the eggs to sit up right in that incubator. The air cells were detached so now I’m using this one. It’s holding a constant temp and humidity. High 30s and low 40s is okay right?

I have a 6 year old Super Blue (Leghorn/EE mix) who lays a big sky blue egg 5 days out of 7. She's amazing. Love that mix. Wowsers - 4 month and laying already, that's awesome. My Marans and Cream Legbars take around 11 months to start laying - it's like watching paint dry ..
