January Hatch-a-long 2018

Pics
Not my first blush, no Picanins. My husband would deff laugh if you asked if it was my first hatch.
LOL!!!! -ohhhhhhh I get the "Hubbie look"!!! I went to pick up 2 BLRW hens (coz I swore I wasn't going to add another breed so quickly) from a breeder friend this evening and you should have seen my hubbies face when he saw the additional Rooster (in all his magnificence) ... ooops .... just one more breeding pen

Went to check the eggs before bed and OMG I have my first pip!!! I know it's early but my last group hatched like 2 or 3 days early too. Incubator running a little warm I guess. It's also the smallest egg in there too. When I candled yesterday I noticed that it's air cell was larger than the others. So hopefully when I wake up there will be a little chickie waiting on me! :jumpy

Day 6 over here in Sunny (except cold right now) Florida :frow

If you have another Bator I would definitely pull some of those eggs because the first hatchers will compromise everything else in the Bator, with such big differences in hatch days, it may make it less stressful for you ..... my 5p worth :)
I agree what small reliable incubators would you guys recommend? And nice day 6 getting along well! What breeds?

im going on day 9 and tomorrow i will candle my eggs yay:celebratei keep trying to get the humidity down but it stays around 52 if i wait for the water to run out will it hurt the chicks in any way that will make them not hatch :th
You could try taking out your vent plugs if you haven't yet. I don't personally see 52% as a problem though, unless you're using the dry incubation method.

As already stated remove vent plugs.

I low humidity incubate mine keep it between 20 to 30 percent. So a lot of the time this means I don' add any water thru the incubation process. So if you humidity indicator is right I don' think it would hurt to let water run down.

If you want I down quicker set eggs out and dump water and reset eggs. That short time won' hurt them either. You're still early in the process.

Good luck

jumping in! Day 3 starts tonight for me. This is my second ever hatch and I'm trying the dry method.

My first was October, hatched November 13th and I had about a 60% success rate. I had nearly 3 dozen eggs. A mix my grandma picked up of BCM, Legbar and Welsummer as well as my own first gen OEs and EEs.

This batch is only 12. 6 Lavender Orpingtons and 6 "Fibro Fly Ties," which are an Ayam Cerami x Genetic Hackle. I'm hoping for at least 60% and can't wait for hatching day......
