January Hatch-a-long 2018

Pics
I just found this thread. Can I join? I put 12 silkie eggs in my new Christmas bator on 12/28. I candled on Friday (day7) and so far 12 little wiggling embryos jumping around. This is my first batch that I have anything on day 7. 1st 2 attempts were in still air LG, that I just couldn't figure out how to regulate temp and some were shipped eggs that USPS took the scenic route. Last attempt was for NYD hatch but my rooster had just taken over being alpha after I lost my alpha and I had 12 unfertile. So it has been a long few months and I am hoping to get at least a few to hatch. Although 12 would be awesome too.
welcome to the hatch along im also wanting to put silkie eggs in the bator but i will have to get them shipped so i will have to wait even longer for them to hatch :lau good luck with your hatch :goodpost:

I candled today and got rid of a couple quitters. I cracked them just to be sure I had judged correctly, which I had. This is day 14 for my first batch of cream legbars. I'll be candling my second batch and heading into lockdown on Saturday.

I tried the shipped eggs back in November my breeder that I got my flock from sent me some eggs. She lives 2 hrs away and USPS took them on a week long tour of New England. These are from my own flock. Maybe I spring I’ll drive down to get more. This is my roo Vader and some of his girls.

Thank you. How did you know the eggs were quitters on day 13? I’m on day 14 and I’m not sure what I should be looking for in quitters. I know I saw movement in 10 of them.

Love the new-bees!

Hi NNy chick,

I gave away my blue Isbar roosters in this pic and kept the white one and 2 little hens. I hatched these in Nov. they are 6 weeks old. I gave away 2 big LO pures too, I am still waiting on hatching eggs of the LO's due on Fri. and eggs that are only on day 6 shipped and including more of the LO rooster's chick eggs. I was willing to give my roosters away to slow my chick flow, at least until this white cutie is old enough to breed. My LO's only just came into mating, so I am hoping to have fertile eggs.
