January Hatch-a-long 2018

Pics
My quail eggs are a mix of bobwhite and cotournix. They take 18 and 24 days to hatch.

Generally I get a 90 percent plus hatch rate.

I hear ya on incubating being addictive. I fired up my incubators in January last year. Shut them down In September.

I'm June I was fortunate enough to hit a sale where there were 15 cabinet incubators. I bought 3 1202 cabinets and 1 1250 Hatcher. My hatching bug makes me think I need to try and keep them all full.

Before I came upon these quail I was getting ready to order 200 chukar eggs.
Score on that cabinet! And, you are going to have a lot of birds!! You will be able to sell eggs someday. :p

Oh I love the blue and the splash especially! I’m sure hoping for a good hatch outta those. The air sacs on those seemed more in tact. Also she did a lovely job answering every question and packaging. There was a heat pack so much bubble wrap and even lined the box with foil to keep better insulation! I loved the experience.

Here are some pictures of my Splash and Blue Copper Marans hens. They started laying this week! I also have 2 chicks I hatched late last year from eBay eggs. One hen and one roo. Pics were never intended to share. I just snapped a few so I could identify who started laying.

Some of my favorite chicks hatched from eBay eggs. They're bantam Cochins. I think they hatched in October. So so fun. I have to be very careful when I feed them as they get underfoot constantly. They hatched roo heavy, 5 roos 3 hens, but I love them too much to part with them. I'm waiting till spring. I'll see if any get attitudes and go from there. I love me a chill friendly rooster.

I bought blue copper marans eggs off ebay a few years ago, they were big, and dark, but had the saddles, and it was before I chatted here and knew any better, they were shipped in 100 degree or better temp, then put them under a hen with our temps over 100, the poor eggs came out a watery mess, and I ruined beautiful eggs.

I’m thinking of getting some silkie eggs to hatch but I would have to get them shipped to me where could I buy some
I saw a post on here yesterday for a dozen eggs for 45 dollars and that included shipping but I got some really nice silkie eggs for a good price from the lady I ordered from and had no cracks! I could give you her info if you’d want?
