Day 7, candled the eggs. I have 13/18 with clear veining. There are a couple I wasn't sure of so I'm leaving those in until the next candling. I'm pretty pleased considering the temps these were collected in. (We hit -35F here that wee) and we weren't sure how hatchability would be on them.

Cynthia, as long as the veining is good! Unless you have really dark ones. My best layers are my leghorns, but they are not as interesting.

Cynthia, I have a glass bulb type thermometer in my incubator on my eggs, seems the digital on the incubator is off, it is an older model. the lady who loaned it suggested that, I have a thermometer inside. I have seen people test those square digital thermometers against a glass one and it comes out diff.

I need some clarification. I thought air cell development only indicates moisture loss of the egg. This is independent of fertility. Is this incorrect? Air cells are important for many reasons but is indicating fertility one of them?

Always learning.
