my hatch is complete! started with 30 eggs, 23 went into lockdown. 18 hatched....6 were assisted, 2 with significant neck deformity, 3 with significant leg/toe deformity. 1 with leg deformity died overnight in the brooder, culled 1 with significant neck/leg deformity. still observing the other 3 for now. pics soon. I set up a new brooder with heating pad inside and going to bring the 7 from outside brooder in with the others overnight because temp supposed to drop into low 20s again. we also separated the run and moved the thanksgiving quail outside this afternoon. we let them run around a bit and then I closed them in with the light on for the night to get used to their new home!

I just went out to get them....it’s only been about an hour and figured out what happened to the 1 that died overnight! I bought a new extra small waterer for these chicks because I had 1 drown last time. and I added the stones as an extra precaution. well the waterer has been leaking!! i found 1 chick soaked near death and 2 others wet. I put the wet ones back in the bator and warmed the other with hairdryer until responsive enough to go back in bator. hopefully it will recover! i’m so upset right now over this!!! I’m going to bring that waterer in tonight on the counter and test it and I need to go get a dry spot for my little gimpy chicken!

I just came home from being gone a few hours and and saw that all seven of my baby quail had gotten soaked in the water and one was dead. The baby quail are warming up in the incubator now with another one that just hatched. @muddy75 do you have any tips on helping the baby quail warm up or should I just leave them be. I hear one baby quail chirping alot.
