No, I am not upset with you, I was just confused. So where exactly do you live? Missouri? I would bet you are a lot closer to some breeders then you think you are. It sounds like you have already found a good place to get eggs, so that is great!

Oh, sheesh, looked at a map and realized I'd gotten my geography mixed up. It's a good thing you were too far away for this to work, or that could have been very embarrassing!
'Cause you know, Arkansas is that state that starts with A that sits between Georgia and Mississippi, right?

No, I've only found hatching eggs from Behl Farm, and while I adore the auburns enough that I'd be willing to try them, I have serious concerns about how well they'd stand the ride into the property once they arrived. It's pretty rough. I'm also worried about if anything would happen to them in shipping, and I don't really trust my skill on an incubator with something special like Javas... So really, unless it was very cheap, I think I'd be too nervous to sink my money into that route.

I called a guy in Arkansas about Javas and he said he sold black Java show culls for $5. I may have something going there -- nothing for sure yet. Still trying.

I went back and spoke to the guy selling Javas at the market. He got his stock from a friend who imported the eggs from Belgium. Says he knows they are rare, but he's breeding them along with all the other breeds he's got as a hobby. Got a few incubators going etc. Unfortunately he didn't bring any Javas with today, but I asked him to bring what he's got for sale next Friday. I'm hoping he'll have a rooster he can (will) sell me. Otherwise I'll have to get fertile eggs from him. He said we can do that.

DH wants to buy me an incubator. Looks like I'm going to take him up on that offer LOL

Yeah, I couldn't get more info from him, but I'll do some research and see what I can find. We went back into town/market and stopped by to say hello to a cute rooster the guy had for sale there. He said he's probably got a Java rooster to spare for me and I told him I'll take all the Java hens he's got for sale also. He's very happy with that idea! Now DH is worried he'll come next Friday with 20 hens or something LOL
I like what this guy's doing. He's young, I'm guessing maybe 20 if that and he's serious about this hobby. His birds are looked after and healthy.

Hopefully he will be more forthcoming with information for us curious people.

Fortunately my husband is good-natured when I bring home more chickens or anything else than I originally intended. Of course I am married to a veterinarian and he has brought home his share of needy animals so he doesn't really say anything to me.

That's all I could get from him, but I'll do some research tomorrow morning when our internet's a bit faster.
And DH started this by seeing that hen at market and buying her! So he can't complain! He's now kicking himself for not buying me an incubator when we were at the feedstore to buy the coop. I love this guy...

I tried to get more info from him and he said it was a friend if his Dad's that brought the eggs from belgium, but he's not sure. I asked him to find out and if possible, get contact details for the guy the eggs came from. I've tried and tried to get info online, but no joy so far.
I got some chickens more from him today. I asked him to bring whatever Javas he has for sale. He brought me 3 pullets and a beautiful little roo

The 2 white ones are very young still. Have a look and tell me what you think:

I just had another good look at the black and white pullet. Her comb is still developing, but it looks like she's going to have a rose comb. I read Javas have single combs.
