Hey, my name is Jenn, I live in rural South Central MN- on the prairie. We have a hobby farm, my husband assembles large equipment, & I work in Human Services. The girl child is getting her R.N. Nursing Degree.
My only child left for college last year & I filled my empty nest with chickens...get it, ha ha.
The girls free range & come home to roost in their palace at night. I got my first chicks in spring 2018, 4 Golden Commets (layers) & 2 Black Australorps. I hand raised (spoiled) them & they think they are people.
A Black & Golden had to be rehomed after a broody/mite incident, the others attacked the 2 mericessly. 1 Bald Eagle incident, & 1 more Golden rehomed after adding 5 this fall- 4 weeks & she wouldn't stop bullying.
I now have 7, one each: Black Australorp, Golden Commet, Light Brahma, Dark Brahma, Blue Orpington, Golden Laced Orpington, & a Dominique! And the bully's are gone.
I love to just sit, drink coffee & watch them interact, they are beautiful & silly.
My other hobbies are motorcycle riding, camping, fishing, mushroom hunting & well I used to like gardening....
People tell me sometimes they take the scenic route because they love to see if the girls are out!
