Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

Here are updated pics of Kathyinmo's JG's. I love the roos so much that they got their own special pen, I'd like to keep them all. I have 3 girls, only 2 posed. 3 girls have started laying some real nice brown eggs.

I had gotten 15 eggs. Twelve were fertile and 11 went into lockdown. All 11 pipped and I'm waiting for the last two to hatch!

Alright, Wynette (and everyone else) - This is a Jersey Giant I hatched from your previous flock, grown up. I'm really starting to be afraid of him. . . He's got a really nice chest coming out, but my goodness is his tail UGLY. He looks like a Japanese or a Serama. . . Can anyone tell me his sickles will calm down and settle with the rest of his tail? Because most of his tail is fine, but his sickles are held up by two other feathers almost 90 degrees high, and REALLY tall. . Really hope it's just a teenage thing or something.

Otherwise, lovin' the rest of him and the girls.

I'll get photos of the pullets later. For some reason my USB makes photos disappear before I even transfer them to this computer. . .

Illia...gosh, I hate to say it, but he's not a keeper. Sigh. This is why I ended up selling my entire starter flock. I got them after being told they were bred to standard...the more I learned after having them, the more things I kept finding wrong. I WISH I'd have known more about the standard before I sold eggs. I'd not have sold them. Not that they are worthless, but there were just so many things I kept finding, it would have taken at least 4 generations to breed it out of them. I sold all my originals, and now have only Hall and Porto stock. Here is one of my current roosters (he was only 8 months in this pic) - Bertuzzi:

He's got that nice, long back, and GADS! Even yellow feet on the bottoms!

Well, here's my two cents - Yes, that new boy is REALLY nice, but I believe your old Jethro still had a nice chest. It heaved out like he was constantly struttin' his stuff, which far as I remember, is what was wanted in the standard. Maybe I remember it wrong or was interpreting it a little overboard.

Either way, yeah, I realize he's not a keeper. I was just really hoping his tail would settle perhaps. But, now that I look at your old cock again, he looks identical.

Oh, and he's got pink soles.

Anyone know much about blues getting accepted?
