Only 5 left to go and 2/3 have pips already.
These ones are popping out like popcorn.
No splash yet.
Blues and blacks.
Some light blues too.
Very nice chicks thank you again Wynette!

Fantastic! Goodness, no one is hatching any splash. Interesting! The cock bird is throwig more of himself over those hens - I'm pleased!

Zoo, your blue is lovely!

I have a splash!!! I just hope it makes it( had a chick pull out to soon and was bleeding so I had to open and grab it ) so it had shirked wrapped around the pip so I helped it a little ( how I lost the one from first set - big butts sitting on it. I was not going to loose this one ( sorry but I had too)
Anyway it was moving some when I went to work.
I have 1 that died day 18 by looks there are 2 that should pip and 2 with pips ( small ones)
When I left if they all hatch that will leave just 1 that went into l/d that did not make it.
I have 2 very silvery blue chick LOVE that color on them.
I hope the rest that are to hatch asre splashes!
Very nice chicks!
PS
My son is graduating this weekend so there will no pictures till next week.
Sorry but I will get good ones this time.

Sounds like you've got a lot going on - I'll congratulate you on a great hatch now!

And - we'll patiently wait for pics next week!

;) thanks. Yes it has been crazy here getting ready for that, moving, hatching and selling all my culls from other hatches and the ones we hatched for the last swap in WV in June. Once all these hatch I will not be hatching anything else this year. I will need a brake after this summer is over. I feel like the kids top toys that has been spinning none stop all over the place.
Will be nice to stop and breath for a few hours sat am.
I'll get pictures of the older chicks too.
There will be Marans mixed in with them so y'all don't freak out when you see feathered legs .
:p

I had 22 hatch two where splash but only one made it.
Was to late on the other one on helping.
So I have a grand total of 14 ( first hatch) and 21 this hatch which is a grand total of 35 of the new line. I will be keeping them till next year to pick my breeders.
Hubby likes the looks of them so much he thinks I should sell the lines I have now and just work with the new line.
Which I could sure do with 35 birds to pick from.
They are huge compared to the other chicks the same age.
Thanks so much Wynette I'm very happy with them!
I hope to get the pictures mid week as we don't have much work wed.

hi, we breed jersey giants here in the uk. Is there a way that people in the states know of, to get eggs sent to the uk. is it viable, i hope so as our stock needs upgrading and the jersey's here at home are pretty poor . thanks.

I'll let the professional breeders ask your question. I think Greenfire Farm has imported eggs from other countries not sure if the export, though. Might contact them.

I was just looking at the "Breeds" section and I noticed it said Jersey Giants Originated from "Orpingtons, Javas and Langshans." when it should actually be Dark Brahmas, Javas, and Langshans. So I quickly PM'd and got a reply, phew!!

The Standard also states "In recent years, Cornish blood was introduced in some strains". Does anyone have any info on this? Interesting....what strains?

Does anyone know the genotype of the black Jersey Giant?...The Kippenjungle "cross breeds of chickens" page only has "jersey Giant" choice and shows the phenotype as "black patterned gold duckwing" e+/e+ duckwing.

Thanks, Nathan
