Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

So do you all find your black Jersey's have very soft fluffy feathers also? These are so much softer than the red chickens feathers for some reason. I am really enjoying the whites quite a lot with one curious issue.

Of my five roosters I have one which is bullying some of the girls - pecking the back of their necks too much and this particular rooster also has the back of his neck pretty well pecked. So wondering if he is pecking a lot because he is angry about losing a fight with a bigger alpha roo or just has a bad disposition that is getting him beat up? Had to blue cote the back of his neck today. Not the one in this picture another one - the one in this picture may be the one who put him in his place. They are nearly 5 months now.

My Jersey is VERY soft. And right after she finishes molting, I can barely keep my hands off of her. Poor thing would really prefer I not pick her up. But she will let me pet her.

Oh Yes! I can't help it either! My Sultan hen has feathers so soft also! But it takes one by surprise to feel feathers so soft that come from such enormously large girls.

I'm still sticking with #7.
Me too! The Beak screams Jersey!
....and the yellow feet of course

You Should be excited to have a Jersey Roo! Sweet, Sensitive, Loyal to a fault! I live in city limits and we had to re-home our Roo

His name is Emu...was sweetie pie in the beginning but grew to a beautiful boy. All 19 pounds of him at 1 year of age. We re-homed him to a farm about an hour away. The people who adopted him divorced and abandoned him. A friend of mine worked with the man and by the grace of God went to that "locked down" farm and "Stole"him back...I begged her to take his little wife...the little red hen who he loved with all his heart! She did and today he lives just 20 minutes from my home. He's four years old now and is doing great! Emu and his little red hen....
I'm telling you this because that is a Jersey Roo in a nutshell...or eggshell

Loyal, sweet and sensitive to the end! He would have been a basket case if she would have been left behind! To this day, he won't let her out of his sight! And just this season she hatched (herself) their son...A very beautiful Roo! I am told he (Emu) was shaking and pacing like a new expectant daddy lol

Emu and his little red wife...
at our home when he was still with us.

And on the tippy top with your post...OOPS is their first born...
Will always love this guy to the moon......

Hey, Giant fans! How is everyone? It's been forever...much too long...since I've posted in here. Hope everyone had a successful poultry year thus far, and is happy with what they see on the ground. I'm hoping to start hatching earlier next year and get my hatching done before summer hits hard!

Anyone wish to share success stories, or things you'd do differently in regard to raising/breeding/exhibiting their Giants?

I've got some gorgeous Blues growing out that I am extremely excited about. I'll be putting a handsome blue cockerel in with my black hens very soon. He's ready to fulfill his special purpose in life...or at least practice until spring!
