Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

so good to get that advice about the long back
woot.gif

That makes alot of since this rooster is from Vaughn he does have that long back look. He is a little week in the breast but weighs 13.1lbs . Austin weighed him this summer to see if he weighed more than Samson. Samson weighed more by .2lbs not by much.
So Ab being week in the width could make his back look longer. Good advice

Wynette,
thanks for getting the pics for us to enjoy!!
The feeling of the full underline from front to rear is such a magnificent experience and rare.
I have some very nice birds so not comparing Crap to Queens...... But, this weekend at our show when I went over the whole entry it was like, she's nice, she's nicer still, she's about the same as that one but maybe could be fuller in the front of the headpiece (for my taste) etc., AND then I picked up and examined this pullet that truly filled my hands to capacity. What a lovely, lovely feel in my hands! One can go for years and not have a natural body like that in your grow-out pen. I wish she were mine.
I would hope that all potential breeders could get their hands on really exceptional birds before they set up their own breeding programs to really see what "fuss is all about". regards, k/

I just saw this post, birdnbeast - thanks for posting this, it is so true! To feel that heavy, solid fullness - the width of breast, deepness...there are just not words to describe how wonderful it is! You did a great job here - thanks for sharing your insight into this wonderful bird with us.

Thanks 4-Hmother and Wynette - I know breeders keep the best for themselves :) I am far south so I cant get adult birds anyway I was actually looking for started birds and/or chicks for a start :)

Would anyone please PM me his contact information so I can see if I can get on his list in the spring?

Thanks.

Making a reply here to keep track of this thread since I have often thought about getting these. I own black Great Danes, so of course I need a couple Black Jersey Giants. Just for the sake of not rambling and actually having a purpose for the post, I will leave you all with this:

My Great Dane loving on a chick. He thought he was the chicks daddy. :D

I went down to the show today, got a few pictures(No idea how good they are) talked to a lot of people, and got some great birds. Giant folk are great. I knew no one when I got there, and I don't think there was 30 minutes in the 6+ hours I was there that I was not talking to someone. There was I believe about 70 Birds there, 4 white, 4 splash, about 20ish blue, and 40ish black. A black Cockerel got BB, and a Black Pullet got RB.

I did not stick around to see the final presentations.

If my Son cooperates tomorrow, I will try and get some pictures uploaded.

Framac
