Chapter 8

"What happened???" James Bond, now a very handsome rooster, demanded.
"They're, they're_" Wendy the Silver Laced Wyandotte stuttered. James rushed over to coop, and was stunned at what he saw. Since neither of the two could speak, so Jesse dashed over there. On the floor laid Sherlock Holmes and three of the four Silver Laced Wyandottes, sleeping, forever. Jesse couldn't believe her eyes. Sherlock had been her favorite.
"Maple, I don't understand! Why did they die?" Jesse questioned with her eyes full of dark, blue tears.
"I'm so sorry, Jesse. It was probably the heat," she answered. The sisters hugged and cried together.
"You won't leave me, will you, Maple?"
"No," she answered, "I will never leave you." Jesse felt a little better, and ran over to take a dust bath while the bathing area was still opened.
But the bad thoughts kept running through her head.
If they died, she thought, anyone could die from this heat; even Maple. Tears came to her eyes again. No, she reassured herself, Maple said she wouldn't leave me. And she wouldn't ever break her promise.

The heat wouldn't let up. It was getting hotter and hotter by the days. The flock was forced to pant all, day, long. Jesse's small jaws eventually became sore, so she decided that a drink of water would help. She trudged over to the waterer and forced her beak into the water. The humans started having to fill the 5 gallon waterer up everyday since it was evaporating so fast. After a few days, an automatic waterer was installed, so there was plenty for all. The human left for a week who always took care of them. Now these big, and TALL humans took care of them.
"This will not due," Jesse finally announced. She went over to the human to peck her. But she suddenly had visions of Sherlock and the Wyandotte sisters. Before they died, when they died. It was so unexpected. She became very upset and nestled up against the humans leg and foot. The human leaned down and gave Jesse some nice and soothing strokes on her beautiful, soft and barred feathers. Then she remembered the conversation with Maple, "No, I will never leave you. Never leave you. Never leave youuu..." Jesse became dizzy and fell asleep. She woke up to seeing her normal human with the fluffy and fun-to-try-to-eat hair; and she was laying on the ground. Maple was sleeping next to her. When Jesse stirred, Maple only laid still.
She must be really tired, she thought. Jesse got up and walked away. But when she came back to her sleeping area, Maple was still there. Hmmmm, she thought, sleeping beauty I suppose. Jesse laid back down and fell asleep.

Chapter 9

Once again, Jesse woke up to Maple being beside her. The only thing different is that she was turned away, and laid like she was dust-bathing.
Maybe she was dust-bathing in her sleep, she wondered. Jesse slowly got up and walked around to the other side of Maple.
"Maple, Maple, wake up!!" Jesse cried anxiously. Jesse nudged her with her foot. Nothing. Then Jesse looked at her face. She had flashbacks to the Wyandotte sisters. Their faces. Their eyes. She looked at Maple's face again. Perfect. Match.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she wailed, "She promised!! She promised!!!" Buck came and put his wing around her, but she pushed him away. No support, she thought, not again. Jesse glared up at the murderer, the sun.
"Why did you do this to me??" she cried, "What did I ever do to you??" What's done was done. She couldn't change it.
Jesse slowly walked back over to Maple and noticed she left this world right next to the waterer. Poor girl, she thought, she almost made it.

Wendy was more depressed than Jesse. All of her sisters were gone, except her. Jesse found her next to a tree, crying silently to herself.
Jesse sat down next to her. Wendy looked peered up at her with eyes swollen, and full of tears. Her eyes had lost its sparkle. Wendy buried her face into Jesse's soft feathers.
"Its ok," Jesse managed to say. Jesse hid her face in Wendy's feathers. They felt so safe, so warm. They both fell asleep together under the tree.

Hey guys, please pray for Chewy. He is laying around a lot, but is eating and drinking.
Also, James Bond, the stupid one, sprained his foot when mounting a gal (Jesse, to be specific) while Buck came and knocked him off.

I'm not really surprised though. It's quite funny because he hops around on one foot pretending he has one leg lol. And somehow, he still manages to sing

Okay, well, the truth is, our attic flooded and then our ceiling collapsed, so we were practically kicked out of the house, unless we wanted to breath in all those chemicals
