Four tons/160 fifty five pound bags - 60 waterfowl pellets, 60 layer crumble, & 40 turkey finisher (no ampro). Plus a bag of lamb milk replacer too...jest in case my sweets have issues coming up lambing for begin of June...hmm expensive stuff wonder if it would go well with cereal...bwa ha ha!

My Hero has to do new set up for truck...the 1989 one ton had a 10,000 pound winch, the new truck does not. Use his power winch we bought for loading firewood and requires slipper run way so pallets do not twist or get hung up.

Leave house at 06:45 and get home at 13:20...long day and she's done!

Oh my! Down to alfalfa STEMS...what an infraction! ​

Yelling at me to "let them on green grass!" Yeh, sure...

No concept as to what it takes to keep this show running, eh.

Slow...slow (and reTIRED) is what we all should be...

All because I am limited to TEN FILES which in my world are TEN PHOTOS...yes, photo = 1,000 words and yeh, well, y'all know I type faster than I can thunk, eh.

May 6...vintage vehicle swap meet...Rick, the girls and I go, like a pilgrimage to "bring out yer junk!" Take the boo sub first night and next day, white sub...girls come along for ice cream...natch!

This fella has been going for years...his is a multiple yeared Chev...

I love, LOVE his advertising plate on the back of his tow yerself back home truck.

He's lookin' fur a Maple Leaf rad emblem and if I find an extra...he'd be interested.

So question...for years, years...pondered, why the >< walls?

Tis a barn and maybe to add mangers for hay feeding, past that, alot of extra work for what????

Geez, I stay logged in but, it made me log in again to reply to your posts. What's with that - Scott probably knows. He has been mentoring me.

So good to be back here . I even needed Nifty's help. The new BYC kept making me do a two step log in and then each time it would say error and give me new code no. that never worked. Nifty found the problem asap and turned off the thingamajig that said I needed a two step login.
I tried shutting off the constant emails I get from every post but, I still get them and they squeeze out important emails. Luckily I noticed yours Tara, thank you for throwing me a life preserver.

May 21 2017 - Cut up the whole beef sirloin
Roast for Rick, steaks for the freezer, trimmings for dog dishes!​

Rick cooked up the beef roast on the rotisserie as planned.

Cooked slow and low...smoked with hickory chips
Delicious does not even come close!! ​

He chose "hickory" wood chips soaked and believe he did that three times. What a fabulous roast...cut out from a whole beef sirloin, it had just the right amount of smoke crust and was still juicy.

Done well done, that is how he likes it and I like mine basically raw (blue rare) but have come to very much enough well done. We are such polar opposites that it is fun to enjoy what the other enjoys...a peak into their perception of the world, eh!

Tilling....May 20 & 21...Rick tilled the handsown oats under on Saturday, a bit before I drug him away to an auction...he got on it first thing on Sunday... What a good man!! Man & machinery; get outta the way, eh!

Impeding progress! ​

Time for tilling and prepping the soil. Last year, planted potatoes June 4, likely happen again this year. My collection of kinds is growing so swiftly, I will have to plant some here. Where I planted some in this area, the soil is magnificent!

Have fifteen varieties of potatoes now, still got four on my list to go...andthat's alot of taters.

So much fun improving the soils we have. We haul it in as seed, feed or bedding; it gets used, it gets composted and so the improvements go.

Meanwhile, I let the oldsters out on the ram pasture grass. It is time for clipping and it can take the mowing now that it has a good start.

We will not stand by and allow one creature to make others miserable...so, I had mumbled as I let them all out..."You misbehave and it'll be like always..." I should have known...

It was constant...harassing and making the ewes miserable!

It is not cute and it is not tolerable. Goat is now confined by herself (other than when with the llamas who are big enough not to have to engage this behaviour). Not a goat person... Last goat...likely never... I need peaceful happy critters, not turmoil and troubles...

Feed getting--poultry bagged rations. We haul this load three times a year.

Left home at 06:45...May 19th...

Arrived at feed mill...

I go in to pay for feed and Rick readies the new system for putting the pallets on.

That's a looooong rig.

First pallet on, without a hitch....

Fourth pallet on, gate on...

Brand new hitch (ah, thars the hitch part!)...Rick adjusts it for the load...biggest loads we haul...

He raises the mud flaps on truck and trailer and we go...

Just short of two hours to arrive, pay, load and get gone....good deal!

The auction I drug Rick to is helping ME get an education about vehicle lifts.

I do not want him on the gravel no mores...I want him standing and working on the trucks he has...standing and not hurting. Hard to do things when you have to crawl around on the ground...at our ages, crawling was a long, long, LONG time ago. LOL

After Rick tilled on Sunday...we went to New Orchard and drained the water plant pond. Needed to see why stock tub was sitting crooked like.
