Good Point!

How is this a good point???? My point was that praying for god to fix your AC (then actually believing he DID for pete's sake) is selfish (and pretty absurd). These two things are not comparable. Besides, my PET chickens give me food. Makes your point even less valid! Maybe if people would stop praying for selfish crap like their AC when they are NOT gonna die without it your god could turn around and notice that poor mother over there praying for her child who is dying of cancer or starving, or was born severely deformed, or was kidnapped...... Or maybe you would realize the AC gets fixed even without prayer and figure out it takes action (not prayer) to make a difference in this world and in the lives of people who need it.

It always amazes me that on any forum i go to that people just need their opinion heard.....If the topic is something you don't believe in WHY DO YOU EVEN ENTER THE THREAD?

People it says "Jesus" right in the title. If you don't believe in him and it's not directed at you don't open the thread. Why turn a perfectly positive thread into something negative?

I just don't understand. We as Christians are called intolerant many times but man put out a positive thread about our religion and someone has to come in and shoot it down. Are they not being intolerant themselves???

Me, My Chickens, My Family=we can post about our lives without talking chicken. If it affends you then please don't read it. Even when I was not faithful to God I still did like the nasty sexual jokes or conversations; so you know what? I did not read them and when I accidently wound up on one of those threads I just left. I did not comment or ridicule them because that only makes matters worse and as a human being who cares about others I just left it alone. Again, if it affends you then leave it alone.

He blesses me everyday that I am able to get up out of my bed and walk. I don't know if yall seen my post about how much one person can take?? I was talking of our troubles and my Daddy had to be taken to the hospital because he was having mini strokes. He is doing great thanks to God! He seen a neurologist and he showed Daddy & Moma the results from the MRI and there was no sign of damage

The doc said, "Mr. ____, the clot that caused the problem went on down the river. You have no damage or sign of a stroke cause God sent the clot on down the river." I am so thankful that Daddy has no sign of damage and that we have an AWESOME GOD!
I have a cousin that is dying of cancer right now and I am sad and upset about it but I know its God's plan and He holds the future and knows whats ahead. It comforts me to know #1 that this cousin knows God and I shall see him again one day.
We Christians do have bad days and do see bad things but we choose to pray about them and leave them in His hands. We also choose to Praise God for our blessings! I could go on and on as I am sure many others could too but its time to get my feet up so I will be able to walk later with not so much pain.

something that I was.. for 28 years of my life.. and only since I have accepted Jesus into my life have I seen many things be blessed.. My perspective has changed.

As for all this Crazyness about MY Air conditioning..

Yes I did pray for it.. My husband did too... But we also pray for larger problems in the world as well.. It is not selfish to pray for yourself as well as others.. I pray for many things... Including the comfort of my 5 children that were sleeping in the heat that evening. And God cares for each and every one of us.. and will continue caring.. even if you dont believe he does. God is still God even if you dont believe he is...

Now lets just keep on praising him and not feed on all the debate if he is real or not.

One does NOT have to be Christian to see or appreciate all the blessings in this life. (Frankly I think a number of Christians don't see or appreciate their blessings either

).

Prayers? As far as appreciative type prayers go, remember that they can come from ANY religion or even none (unless you want to get all semantic about things). I betcha whatever God there is accepts them all the same, on the basis of their intentions; and if I'm wrong, as is certainly possible

, so what. It doesn't change anything I do or feel.

As far as appeal-for-strength prayers, they seem to be useful at times even if you're not Christian. If you want to think you get more bang for your buck from believing in Jesus, that's fine, but what I've already got is enough for me.

And as far as adjusting-the-circumstances-of-this-world prayers, I wouldn't be praying to God for anything much for myself, anyhow. I am profoundly not interested any sort of vending-machine God. If some people want to believe they get extra luck or Stuff because of their beliefs, that's just fine, but I sure wouldn't want that for myself (on grounds of fairness).

OTOH when appeals for help are prayed on behalf of others, I don't honestly know (no matter what y'all say) whether such prayers really make any difference at all to the people they're meant to help; but I do think they do us some good ourselves if said sincerely.

And maybe they DO actually help sometimes. I would like to think so. As far as that goes, however, I absolutely would not want to subscribe to any God who refrained from helping someone just because a nonbeliever prayed to Him about it

I don't honestly think that if the Christian God is real He would work that way, but if He did, I sure would never be signing up for THAT.

So really I do not think it would change the world if I believed what you do; and if it would change me (of which I'm unconvinced), what difference does that make when I my current beliefs (and partial lack thereof) are working just fine and I got no complaints.

I think that Jesus (or whom- or whatever, or just the universe in general) can perfectly well have blessed my life this week even if I am not "a subscriber", you know? Or if it ain't Jesus that's doing it, SOMEone or SOMEthing sure is anyhow, and I think I have the right to be grateful

l Peter 5:7 tells us God wants us to cast ALL our cares upon Him, not just some, not just the big ones, not just life changing ones ....but all.

Thank you TruckersWife, I needed to be reminded of that verse. Sometimes I do feel petty talking to God about what I realize are "stupid questions", or shallow concerns. Thankfully God always listens, even when I don't think he cares or notices.

I love to hear about people's lives being enriched by their beliefs.
